Selena Gómez confessed that she does not like to be called "pretty"
Selena Gomez recently revealed that she doesn't like being called "pretty" and explained how comparing herself to other "beautiful women" has affected her.
The singer is taking time off to take care of her mental health and treat the depression she has suffered for a long time, caused by the enormous pressure she felt for work.
Gomez explained in a podcast called "Dream It Real" that she does not consider flattery about her physique to be a good thing, as she would rather people know and love her for her personality rather than just how she looks.
"I do not like people to judge me by how I look or anything like that ... I like men to tell me that I am pretty, I know that I am, but I would like more that someone loved me for the person I am," he said.
Selena explained that the bad thing about the networks is that they only show the physical part of people, but they do not allow us to see what is beyond how their body and the way they dress.
In addition, she stressed that spending a lot of time on Instagram affected her seriously, as she constantly felt bad when compared to the images of "perfect" girls that flooded her timeline, in addition to being very exposed to negative comments and attacks for the photos she uploaded.
"It's not very healthy to be on Instagram all the time because I got depressed seeing people look perfect all the time, so taking breaks is very important," Selena said.
The singer also spoke about the importance of recognizing when you have mental health problems and going to therapy, since more and more people feel affected by the excessive use of social networks.
