15 actors who try too hard, but don't achieve total success in Hollywood
His greatest successes on the screen have been left two, three and a few years back ... Why?
Hollywood is not an easy terrain to master. Some celebrities are naturally successful in film and television, others only in one of those two areas. Others live their golden years and then get lost in the sea of new talents that are born every year. Fortunately, there are a couple of names from that group who are currently experiencing the best moment of their careers and who have managed to get out of that area where nothing relevant happens.
The following names will make more than one jump out of your seat, but being a bit analytical, each has been through the stages described above.
1. Clive Owen
Closer and his Oscar nomination, Sin City and the Children of Man put the Briton on the Hollywood A list between 2004 and 2008. But mysteriously his presence ceased to be constant, or rather focused on independent films or less projection.
His talent is undeniable, but in almost 10 years he has not been so overwhelmingly successful. Let's see if his return with Valerian and the city of a thousand planets changes the course of history.
2. Alex Pettyfer
English actor and model, who many people only locate as being Adam The Kid on Magic Mike, let's say, he hasn't done much since. A glance at his Instagram account shows that the handsome actor travels a lot, perhaps too much. Sometimes he shares images from some filming, but little or nothing is known about those films.
He may have become the teen idol of the 2000s, but hey. The handsome has not changed, on the contrary. Perhaps success comes behind the scenes, in his time as a film director.
3. Taylor Lautner
After the Twilight saga and the rage of those crazy, crazy years 2009, 2011 and 2012, basically in Taylor's career there has been nothing interesting to add to this list.
From the long list of actors who became known thanks to Twilight, we can only say that Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson managed to overcome the media chaos of the most talked about teen story of the last ten years.
4. Josh Hartnett
The final stretch of the nineties would not be complete without the presence of the handsome Josh Hartnett, who between Suicide Virgins, Pearl Harbor and 40 days and 40 nights became the leading man in fashion.
His foray into the most serious cinema came with the sad failure of La Dalia Negra. After this film, and in the words of the actor, having rejected being Superman and the Batman of the Christopher Nolan franchise had a high cost in his career.
5. Taylor Kitsch
Taylor is eligible for success in Hollywood. He is handsome, rebellious and a good actor. However, the projects he has been involved in in recent years have not been the best for his career.
His stint on television in the second season of True Detective made it clear that he is very talented, but that season was a curse for everyone involved. A chapter that the creators themselves want to forget.
6. Armie Hammer
Social network, Operation U.NC.L.E. and The Lone Ranger are some of the titles that may help us locate their presence in the cinema. But outside of that, something has happened in the actor's career that cannot stand out.
7. Amanda Seyfried
Two films: Mean Girls and Mamma Mia, then ... What happened to the actress? Let's see if Mamma Mia 2 manages to save a career destined for silence.
8. Sam Worthington
After Avatar, the Australian actor's name has been a bit forgotten. Although he has participated in films such as Terminator Salvation or Clash of the Titans, these have been a box office failure with more negative reviews than praise.
9. Jason Momoa
His time on Game of Thrones is perhaps the best known in the industry. There is every hope that as Aquaman the muscular actor of a positive turn at the box office, but the little noise that has been made to the film compared to other superhero films leaves a strange taste in our mouths.
10. Josh Lucas
Along with Reese Witherspoon in Sweet Home Alabama he was confirmed as one of the leading men of cinema, but Poseidon and The Invisible Menace put his career on hiatus.
Does anyone remember?
11. Colin Farrell
The career of the sexy Irishman has a before and after Miami Vice. For many years it was the sex symbol par excellence. The rebellious boy who wowed everyone in Hollywood, including Britney Spears.
The young promise of cinema changed the course of his career thanks to excesses and some bad projects. However, for a couple of years Colin has made good steps, and 2017 could confirm it with The Beguilded.
12. Estella Warren
Four years were enough for the former athlete to go from glory to total rejection in the industry thanks to films such as Kangaroo Jack, lash and jump and the mistake in Tim Burton's filmography, Planet of the Apes.
13. Orlando Bloom
Gone are those years of guaranteed success thanks to the trilogy of The Lord of the Rings or Pirates of the Caribbean (although his character is one of the darlings of the saga).
Orlando's career has given more to talk about personally thanks to his relationship with Miranda Kerr, Katy Perry and his new friendship with Leonardo DiCaprio.
Although he has tried to do something else, such as that participation in the Netflix series, Easy, nothing else has happened with the handsome Briton.
14. Zac Efron
Zac is a very special case. He is highly admired, desired and loved among fans. High School Musical, Neighbors, We Are Your Friends and Baywatch confirm his status as one of the most influential and active actors in the medium. However, is Hollywood ready for Zac to put aside his natural beauty and be encouraged to participate in films that demonstrate other abilities?
Will we be prepared to see Zac in a character where the physique is not the most attractive?
15. Ryan Reynolds
He could be the best example for Zac and other attractive actors who in addition to beauty have charisma and, more importantly, talent and seek to break out of the mold.
Ryan went from romantic comedy heartthrob to failed superhero (yes, Green Lantern was a resounding failure in his career, not in his personal life) and - again - to the funniest, most irreverent and cool superhero of the moment thanks to Deadpool.
At 40, the Canadian is experiencing one of the best stages of his career, which indicates that the good selection of projects and taking risks have positive consequences.
