ALL THE THINGS MEGHAN MARKLE HAS IN COMMON WITH DIANA DE WALES
And they have more than you think.
If you've spent at least 0.1% of your time watching the wedding between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, you've seen hundreds of comparisons to the late Princess Diana.
The one who was Princess of Wales was mentioned several times during the couple's engagement in November and although we may have gone too poetic, it is true that there is a lot of truth in those comparisons, however skeptical you are.
The Duchess of Sussex has a lot in common about her being her mother-in-law. See if they have, Harry and Meghan themselves have been in charge of drawing a parallel reality. Diana was brought to the interview after her engagement proposal, where Harry made it clear what it would be like if his mother were alive.
"It would be nail and flesh, without a doubt," said Prince Harry. "I think she would be super happy, jumping from top to bottom, very happy for me because I also know that she and Meghan would be great friends. It is on days like today when we miss having her around the most, to share happy news with her. But well, with the whole ring thing and everything we're preparing I'm sure ... "" he's with us, "Meghan finished.
Who are we to argue that? Fortunately, we don't have to because there is enough evidence to connect the strings, even without Harry's help. We tell you EVERYTHING:
DIANA AND MEGHAN ARE VERY SUPPORTIVE
This is probably the most surprising comparison between two members of the royal house. Princess Diana was a famous activist. Her legacy is great humanitarian work but during her time as a princess she has continued to do so. She was initially accused and criticized for fighting the stigma of AIDS at a time even when the President of the United States at the time, Ronald Reagan, was unaware of the disease. Not everyone understood what he was doing and why.
Markle has also spoken openly about gender equality, social, justice and feminism. Now that you have a much larger long global platform, it will be great to see what you decide to do with such a tool.
THEY LIKE BREAKING MOLDS
Before Meghan was fully part of royal life, she has made a few changes here and there. Although she has been well surrounded, because Diana has not always had support to break rules.
After choosing her engagement ring and writing her own vows, she had Prince William and Harry going to school alone like nothing. It may seem irrelevant, but according to the housekeeper, William was the first applicant for the throne to go to public school.
HIS PARENTS ARE DIVORCED
Diana's father, John Spencer, and his mother Frances Spencer, separated when Diana was just seven years old. Meghan has been through something similar with her parents, Doria Ragland and Thomas Markle, they separated when she was two years old.
"What's incredible is, you know, my parents split up when I was two but I never saw them fight. We always went on vacation together. My father came with me on Sundays to watch the game while we had dinner and played things." Meghan said. "We are still very close."
THEY DIDN'T HAVE A LONG TIME OUT WITH THEIR RESPECTIVES BEFORE THEY ENGAGED
The very short dating relationship between Harry and Meghan raised doubts among skeptics, since they met in the summer of 2016 and were already engaged in November 2017. As it turns out, Diana and Prince Charles did the same. Diana began dating Carlos in the summer of 1980 and they were engaged in February 1981.
THEIR ENGAGEMENT RINGS WERE COORDINATED
The resemblance between the two is manifested in the engagement ring that Prince Harry gave Meghan. Her ring includes two diamonds from Diana's collection, with a Botswana stone center.
THEY WERE NOT BORN AS PART OF THE ROYAL FAMILY
This is also shared with Kate Middleton. None of the three were born royalty, although they have learned (and continue to do so) to hold the reins in their own way.
SAID ALL THIS, ALSO HAVE UNIQUE DIFFERENCES
Of course, it is clear that they are not twins and it would not be fair to spend our lives comparing them like that. The differences are also obvious. Diana grew up in a good British family that had a relationship with Queen Elizabeth from the beginning. Meghan, however, was born in Los Angeles to a family consisting of a yoga teacher and a lighting director.
Unlike Diana, Meghan wore two dresses to her wedding. Her family did not meet the royal family until a few days before the marriage and her father has still not met Harry. Unlike Diana, who tied close ties with them while dating Carlos. Markle has been married and divorced before marrying Harry. But there doesn't seem to be a Camila Parker-Bowles between the two of them, unlike Carlos and Diana.
But even so, it's nice to see how much they would have had in common if they could be together in the same place.
