Harry and Meghan: how will they fare financially?
The couple want to gain financial independence. With a lifestyle estimated at more than two million euros per year, we will have to work ...
Like two emancipated teenagers, Harry and William leave the royal cocoon to live as they see fit ... But they will have to find the money to ensure a princely lifestyle - just Meghan's dressing budget is was raised last year to 250,000 euros, according to the Daily Mail. Until then, the couple could count on daddy's money: each year, Prince Charles allocates to his two boys the equivalent of 5 million pounds (nearly 6 million euros), without us knowing details of the distribution. But it can be assumed that more than half goes to William and Kate, who are more in demand than the Sussexes and have three dependent children. The prince draws from his personal cassette, from the generous profits (more than 20 million euros) brought to him by his imposing Duchy of Cornwall, a real goose that lays golden eggs.
The Sussexes also benefit from another envelope, that granted by Elizabeth II herself since the endowment granted each year by the State to the sovereign, which serves, among other things, to compensate the members of the royal family according to their official commitments. The couple announces on their site that they will gradually give up this aid, which represents, according to him, 5% of their income (between 100,000 and 150,000 euros estimated), a way of not owing anything to British taxpayers .
A fortune of 40 million euros
Meghan and Harry want to live between London and North America, probably Canada, dear to them. Which supposes two residences: they already live that of Frogmore Cottage, located in Windsor, whose renovation for 2.7 million euros had gritted teeth and that the queen could leave them for a rent if the Sussexes intend to earn their life ; as for the Canadian residence, they could also rent or buy a pied-à-terre to stay there for a few months of the year. After all, Meghan and Harry are at the helm of an estimated fortune of 40 million euros: nearly 5 million for Meghan, who made a living with the Suits series, and 35 million for the prince, largely from of Diana's will and several millions left by her grandmother, Queen Mum, who wanted to favor her second grandson over William, the heir, who will have no money problem in the future.

Added to this are travel, housekeeping, staff, secretaries and nannies, enough to quickly climb the bill. Not to mention their close security which would ultimately be at the expense of British or Canadian taxpayers ... Prince Charles should continue to put his hand in his pocket, it is hard to see him abandoning his younger brother, still a member of the royal family, at the risk of passing for a real stingy in the eyes of the planet ... But the Sussexes can also find other sources of income, their notoriety is high enough to be offered a number of contracts: production of documentaries, books, Memoirs, conferences paid at gold prices … They could also receive a salary by chairing foundations or causes that are close to their hearts - a common practice in the Anglo-Saxon philanthropic world - where their mere presence could significantly inflate donations. In the United States, the Sussexes are as famous as Jay-Z and Madonna put together ...
The most lucrative business for them, with tens of millions at stake, would be to sell their image by becoming ambassadors of big brands, by launching themselves in the televisual presentation - the big American media would tear them away - and even, why not , in the cinema… Obviously with the danger of mixing genres, of sullying the image of Windsor and of provoking endless controversy. Do we imagine tomorrow Meghan to become one of the greatest actresses in Hollywood, posing languidly on the front pages of magazines? Queen Elizabeth II's worst nightmare…
