Kate Moss and Johnny Depp or the most stormy relationship in history
The model has just separated from Jamie Hince, but the breakup that really marked her life was Johnny's. We go back to the nineties to analyze all the details of it
Is there anything better than compulsively looking at images of Kate Moss and Johnny Depp together back in the nineties? Well, maybe seeing pictures of Winona and Johnny would be something similar –or even better–, but the truth is that the actor and the model formed one of the coolest couples that have ever existed; and those photographs of both that we referred to in previous lines give off a charm that is difficult to describe. It is possible that even - venturing to make value judgments without knowing anything - just by looking at those images we intuit that their relationship was not a common relationship, but something more special, more significant, more beautiful.
Kate Moss has just separated from Jamie Hince and although everything indicates that the model is going through quite a difficult time, nothing is comparable to the "nightmare" that she lived during and after her relationship with Johnny Depp. And why are we so sure? Well, let's examine the evidence.
The writer Maureen Callahan in her book Champagne Supernovas –where she recounts the excesses to which models and designers succumbed during the nineties– confirms this theory. "Kate and Johnny were the most drugged and chic couple since Keith Richards and Anita Pallenberg. The epitome of cool in Trainspotting culture. But Kate was always on edge, fearful of Johnny's moods." The writer also recounts how since the couple met at the Tabac Cafe in New York in 1994 - shortly after Depp had separated from Lori Anne Allison - their relationship turned into a whirlwind of drugs, alcohol, parties and sex. "Their appetite for alcohol, drugs, cigarettes and sex was ravenous," Callahan describes in her book.
At that time, and as the writer describes in her book, Kate Moss was able to drink a bottle of vodka - the least harmful drink, according to her doctor, to maintain her beauty - in one sitting, which is why she apparently received the nickname "El Tanque". In fact, Johnny himself was unable to keep up with her and decided to leave the model during the 1997 Cannes Film Festival to try to find some peace and stability in his life. Kate's reaction was to sink into an acute depression from which she tried to break out through more drugs and alcohol. The couple gave themselves a chance again in 1998, but it was short-lived. Months later, Johnny Depp met Vanessa Paradis and Kate entered a rehabilitation center in London.
Of course, Maureen Callahan's theory may seem far-fetched, but the truth is that Kate Moss suggested something in a recent interview with Vanity Fair magazine. "I really lost that measure of someone I could trust. Nightmare. Years and years of tears. Oh, the tears ...", the model confessed to the publication about her break with the actor. But despite everything, Kate confessed that her love story with Johnny had a very positive influence on her life and that she learned a lot from him. "I was lucky to be with Johnny ... She taught me a lot about fame. She said," Never complain, never explain yourself. "
