Kate Winslet reveals if she had an affair with Leonardo DiCaprio
The love story between Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as Jack and Rose aboard the "Titanic" broke all film records back in 1997 and, in addition to raising more than 1.8 billion dollars and winning 11 Oscars (which place him as the film with the most statuettes along with Ben-Hur and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King), the actors have shown that the friendship they struck during filming continues to this day.
This summer, we have seen them together twice. At the end of July with Billy Zane (the actor who played Cal Hockley, Rose's fiancé, in "Titanic"), at the annual dinner that DiCaprio organizes to raise funds for his foundation and in which he launched an auction to share a dinner with him and Kate Winslet in New York. And a few weeks later enjoying a morning by the pool at the actor's mansion in Saint-Tropez.
But in these two decades, it has always been rumored whether the romance of the actors crossed the screen and became a reality. This morning, Kate Winslet has given an interview on the Lorraine Kelly program, on the occasion of the premiere of her next film ("The Mountain Among Us" in which she stars with Idris Elba), and has revealed the mystery by apologizing to the knowledge that it was going to disappoint to many people.
"It was 7 months of very intense work. We were very young and fortunately we were never attracted to each other. I know this is something really annoying to hear, sorry. But we have never liked each other and that means we could have this .. . to be able to joke with each other, something we still do, which is really incredible. We have a very, very strong friendship, "commented the actress.
When asked if it is "believed" that 20 years have passed since the premiere of "Titanic", Kate Winslet has assured that yes because she has been living with it all this time. In addition, she has commented that her children and their friends repeat Rose's phrases, which makes her think that now the new generations are enjoying the film and that "Titanic" is a kind of "Mary Poppins".
Speaking of her Oscar, as the best leading actress for "The Reader" in 2008, Kate Winslet has confirmed that she has it in her bathroom and has revealed that she chose this location inspired by Emma Thomson.
