Melania Trump is more popular in America than Donald Trump himself
52% of Americans have a positive image of their first lady, Melania Trump, a higher percentage than her husband, President Donald Trump, according to a poll released today by CNN.
The first lady, whose public appearances are counted since Trump arrived at the White House on January 20, is disapproved of by 32% of Americans while 3% have never heard of her, according to that firm's poll. ORC International.
These figures contrast with those of her husband, the most unpopular president of the last half century by now with an unfavorable image of 53% and an approval of just 44%, according to the most recent ORC International poll (Feb. 3 ).
The 52% approval rating for the first lady is 16 points higher than the one she registered just a month and a half ago, at her husband's inauguration.
Melania Trump, born in the former Yugoslavia, now Slovenia, has higher percentages among men (58%) than among women (46%) and among Republicans (86%) than among Democrats (22%).
However, the former first lady Michelle Obama in April 2009 registered a positive image of 93% among Democrats and 50% among Republicans and when she left the White House she had a popularity close to 70%.
The first lady chose after Trump's victory in the November elections to maintain her residence in New York at least until her son Barron completes the course, a decision for which she has received criticism.
ORC International conducted the survey between March 1 and 4 with telephone surveys of 1,025 people and the margin of error is 3%.
