Pierce Brosnan thinks a woman should play Agent 007
Time for changes for James Bond. Although in the last installments the character was adapting to a more real story - with female characters occupying key positions and no longer in mere "decorative" roles -, the continuity of the saga of the most famous secret detective to demand a corresponding turn of the screw to the times that run.
In that sense, the imminent departure of Daniel Craig - who is currently filming what will be his last film as 007, No Time To Die - is presented as an opportunity to open the game and respond to the criticism that the franchise has received in the last weather. Some argue that it is time that, for example, James Bond stopped being played by white actors, and the name of Idris Elba as a possible successor has gained many followers. But there are also those who believe that it should be a woman who carries the legacy forward from now on, and Pierce Brosnan himself has expressed his support for that motion.
"I think we've seen guys play James Bond for the past 40 years," the actor told The Hollywood Reporter. "Get out of the way, guys, and put a woman in there. I think that would be exciting, really exciting," said the man who played the super agent between 1995 and 2002, in four films.
And it is that the rumors indicate that Lashana Lynch will be the one who assumes the role of 007 after Craig's farewell, in April 2020. The British actress, known for her work in Captain Marvel, will have an important role in No Time To Die, and some argue that her character is a potential successor. However, Brosnan was somewhat skeptical that this change will happen while Barbara Broccoli is leading the production: "I don't think this change will happen under her eyes."
