Prince Harry tells how he proposed to Meghan Markle
This Monday their engagement was announced. The wedding is expected to take place in spring 2018.
After Prince Harry's engagement to Meghan Markle was announced on Monday, and the couple briefly appeared before photographers at Kensington Palace's Sunken Garden, the couple took time to provide details of their relationship in an interview with British local television.
"I fell in love with Meghan incredibly fast, all the stars were aligned, everything was perfect. It was this beautiful woman who literally stumbled and fell in my life," confessed the prince.
The couple revealed that they were introduced by a mutual friend and that they were seeing each other every two weeks. A month later, Harry convinced Meghan to accompany him on a five-day trip to Botswana.
"It was absolutely fantastic," recalled Carlos' youngest son and the late Diana.
Regarding how he proposed to his girlfriend, Harry revealed that it happened a few weeks ago when they were in Nottingham Cottage, a small house attached to Kensington Palace and where they are scheduled to live after married.
"It was a typical night," Harry recalled, to which Meghan added, "A cozy night, we were doing rotisserie chicken. It was an amazing surprise, it was so sweet, so natural and so romantic. He got down on his knees."
Harry claimed that he hadn't finished the petition yet when Meghan had already said “yes.” “It was a beautiful moment,” the prince recalled.
Meghan said she has already met Harry's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. He described her as an "incredible woman". The American actress also had good words for her brother-in-law William and his wife, Kate.
"What do you think your mother would have thought or said about Meghan?" Journalist Michal Husain asked Harry, referring to Princess Diana, to which he replied: "She would be on the moon, jumping up and down, so excited for me, but then they probably would have been best friends. "
Harry acknowledged that it is in these kinds of moments that he especially misses his mother. "I'm sure he's with us, jumping up and down somewhere," concluded the prince.
