He's great at what he does in action comedies and romantic comedies. But he's never done anything that really stands out in a way that makes him a "best of all time" contender.
Here are some great Canadian actors who make Ryan little potatoes. No offense, Ryan.
Dan Aykroyd; a fellow comedian, but one who has been to numerous great classics like Ghostbusters, Blues Brothers, and Trading Places. He also had serious roles in movies like Driving Miss Daisy and Chaplin.
John Candy; another fellow comedian with many great classics in his filmography, including Uncle Buck, Spaceballs and Trains, Planes and Automobiles.
Jim Carrey ; Also a comedian who has done many of the more recent comedy classics like Ace Ventura and Dumb & Dumber. He has also shown real acting skills in films like The Truman Show and Man on the Moon. The latter also won him a Golden Globe.
Ryan Gosling; Much more than just a pretty boy, this Ryan has done some serious serious work in movies like Blade Runner 2049, Drive, and First Man.
Michael J. Fox; This guy is my favorite for the greatest Canadian actor of all time. He's done some real classics like Back to the Future, lots of comedy classics like Doc Hollywood and The Secret to My Success, and he's done some serious work on movies like Casualties of War.
I could go on. But this is a good start.
