"America, I am honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country." That was the first pronouncement of the president-elect of the United States, Joe Biden, who obtained 273 electoral votes, after obtaining 20 electoral votes in Pennsylvania, and with this the victory by passing the 270 he needed to win. For his part, Donald Trump obtained, until this Saturday, 214 electoral votes.

In the message that Biden wrote on Twitter, he declared: "The work ahead will be hard, but I promise you the following: I will be a president for all Americans, whether they vote for me or not."

And he added in the trill: "I will keep the faith you have placed in me." Along with these words, he published a video with a song 'America, The Beautiful' (America, the beautiful, in Spanish), by Ray Charles, where images of African-Americans, young people, children, people of various genders and social classes are seen.

"But now wait a minute, I'm talking about America, sweet America. You know, God showered his grace on you, crowned your good, yes he did, in a brotherhood, from sea to shining sea," says the lyrics of this song.

The Democratic party, to which Biden belongs, also celebrated his victory and congratulated him.

"Congratulations @JoeBiden. It is time to begin the work of uniting our country to heal the wounds of our nation, restore our economy and rebuild better for a America that works for all," he trilled.

On Wednesday Biden and his vice-presidential running mate Kamala Harris launched a website Wednesday to transition the government, anticipating that they would be the winners of the presidential election.

The website was launched with text in English and Spanish and some US media say it is part of a nod to the Latino community, which supported Biden by 70% according to a recent poll.

Entering the portal reads: "The American people will determine who will be the next president of the United States. The votes are still being counted throughout the country. The crises facing the country are serious, from a pandemic to a economic recession, from climate change to racial injustice, and the transition team will continue to prepare at full speed so that the Biden-Harris Administration can start working from day one.
