Angelina Jolie's indictment of Brad Pitt delays divorce
The legal war between the actors continues.
The divorce process for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt is getting longer and longer, and disputes in court are constantly renewed. Earlier this week it emerged that one of the judges involved in the couple's case was disaffected.
Angelina asked that Judge John W. Ouderkirk be removed from the case as he would be in a business relationship with one of Brad Pitt's attorneys. It would be the same judge who married them in 2014
For Jolie, the employment relationship between the judge and the actor's lawyer would imply a bias for the judge when working on his case, and she took other divorces in her charge as a reference to support her theory.
Pitt's legal team has decided to respond first on his defense. She alleged that the other cases before Judge Oudenkirk were always fully disclosed, and that Jolie, in full knowledge of the cases, had never objected to Ouderkirk's involvement in their divorce to date.
"Unfortunately, the individuals hardest hit by Jolie's tactical strategy are her own children, who will be delayed in the final resolution regarding custody."
The actress's lawyer responded to Brad's team, and considered it "unfortunate" that the actor's team sought to intervene by anticipating the judge's response.
"One can only conclude that this is an attempt to obstruct or influence the judge's response."
The separation of the couple affectionately nicknamed Brangelina was in 2016, but the legal divorce process began in 2019.
