Duchess Meghan's most beautiful pregnancy looks - and 6 style rules that we take with us
From bold color-blocking to loose print dresses to elegant designer and vintage pieces - Meghan Markle created her very own style in the course of her pregnancy. Vogue has accompanied the Duchess of Sussex's most beautiful outfits - and has taken six style rules for modern expectant mothers from them.
Duchess Meghan is pregnant - the news spread like wildfire among Royal fans. The baby rumors started making the rounds when she appeared at Princess Eugenie's wedding in Windsor in October 2018 in a loose-fitting Givenchy coat with a trapeze silhouette. Shortly thereafter, she and Prince Harry set off on their first official 16-day trip abroad through Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand. When the couple landed in Sydney, the Duchess of Sussex was seen covering her stomach with two purple paper folders. Lo and behold: Shortly afterwards, the palace officially announced the pregnancy.
Afterwards, however, there was no question of a retreat into private life. Immediately upon her return, the Duchess of Sussex started a marathon of 76 official appearances. After all, there were enough opportunities to follow the development of her pregnancy style.
In general, over the past few months the former "Suits" actress has opted for a number of individually styled looks from her favorite fashion houses instead of established pregnancy labels Experiments vintage silhouettes.

The 6 most important rules of Meghan Markle's maternity wardrobe:
1. Stay true to your style and favorite designers
Her pregnancy was no reason for the Duchess of Sussex not to continue to rely on her favorite designers. The best examples of this are the Stella McCartney wrap coat, in which she has already been spotted several times - including at the Festival of Remembrance in November; the combination of coat and pleated dress by Givenchy, which she wore when visiting City University in London in January, and the nude-colored shift dress by Brandon Maxwell, in which she was shown during a visit to the National Theater that same month. Markle made no compromises on his feet either and continued to wear high Manolo Blahnik and Aquazzura stilettos until late in pregnancy.
2. Experiment with (block) colors
Although she continued to rely consistently on nude and navy, the Duchess was bolder when it comes to choosing colors during pregnancy. In January, during a visit to Birkenhead, the Duchess was spotted in a bold red coat by Sentaler and a purple dress by Babaton by Aritzia and was immediately compared to Princess Diana, who wore the same color combination several times in the 1980s. Markle also used block colors for her first public state visits as Duchess, especially the blue Safiyaa dress when visiting the Fiji Islands and the red dress by Self-Portrait when visiting Tonga - matching the respective flags of the countries .
3. Playing with prints
During her pregnancy, the Duchess not only played with new colors, but also repeatedly played with lively prints - especially during her two state visits overseas. During her visit to the Fiji Islands, the Duchess wore a casual, floral wrap dress from the New York brand Figue, while visiting Morocco in February she wore a printed blue maxi dress by Carolina Herrera. In the later stages of pregnancy, too, graphic patterns were used again and again, including the chain print dress from Victoria Beckham's Fall / Winter 2019 collection, which she wore when she visited Commonwealth Day in March, her official penultimate date, from the catwalk before birth.
5. Shorter hems
For a contemporary touch, the Duchess also experimented with shorter hems during pregnancy, which she balanced out with high necklines. During a visit to London's Hubb Community Kitchen in November, for example, she wore a burgundy shift dress from Club Monaco and opted for a 60s-style mini dress by Reiss for an event to mark International Women's Day in the British capital in March.
6. Glamor for the red carpet
In contrast to the minimalist cuts she was known for before pregnancy, the Duchess relies on Hollywood glamor across the board when it comes to maternity style. For her surprise appearance at the British Fashion Awards in December, she wore a velvet one-shoulder dress by Givenchy's creative director Clare Waight Keller, and in January she shone in a sequined navy dress by Roland Mouret at the London premiere of Cirque du Soleil. In February, she was spotted at a reception in Morocco wearing a sleek, floor-length cream-colored cape dress by Dior.
