According to the Daily Mail, it is also known that the Duchess's father is prepared to give evidence against her daughter, in a trial that will determine who is right about the letter Meghan wrote to Mr. Markle.


The lawyers of the publishing company, for their part, maintain that the letter is in the public interest because it is a media figure, in addition, as part of their defense they also allege that the content of the text was not modified.

Thomas Markle had previously confessed that he felt pressure to share the letter with the press, especially after its content was misrepresented and aired in the People article, and he told the “Mail” newspaper: “I have to defend myself. I only published parts of the letter because other parts were so painful. The letter did not seem loving to me. "

The court heard today that Meghan testified that her father was "harassed and exploited" by the press, despite not speaking to him for two years. So Antony White QC, of Associated Newspapers, told the judge today that it was "curious" that Mail on Sunday are accused of "harassing, humiliating, manipulating and exploiting" Markle when her daughter has not spoken with her.


Today's hearing is a stepping stone to a full High Court trial that could take place in late 2020 or early 2021, all depending on whether Meghan and Harry want to proceed with what could be the trial of the year.
