He also said presenter Billy Bush had prompted Trump to comment.

Melania Trump defended her husband on Monday, describing the obscene comments the Republican presidential candidate made in a leaked 2005 video, in which he bragged about groping women, as a "conversation between boys."

Trump, who has kept a low profile during her husband's presidential campaign, gave her first television interviews since the release of the recording on October 7 hit the millionaire's presidential campaign ahead of the November 8 election.

She told 'CNN' that her husband was participating in "a conversation between boys, and was led - perhaps incited - by the host to say dirty and bad things" in his dialogue with Billy Bush of the 'Access Hollywood' program.

She added in an interview with 'CNN' broadcast on Monday night that the recording surprised her, because she had never heard her husband use that kind of language before. "No. No, that's why I was surprised, because I told myself that I did not know the person who spoke that way, nor that she would say that kind of thing in private," said Melania Trump.

In addition to ensuring that Donald Trump had never behaved inappropriately, the Republican candidate's wife told 'CNN' that it was common for women to approach him to give them his phone number.

In partial transcripts of a different interview with 'Fox News', she said she had forgiven her husband for the comments on the recording, which was initially released by 'The Washington Post'.

"Those words were offensive to me and they were inappropriate. And he apologized to me. And I (...) accepted his apology," he said.

This is Melania Trump's first public comment since she issued a statement after the recording was released, in which she said: "The words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me. This does not represent the man I know. I hope that people accept your apology, just as I have. "

Television host Billy Bush, who was with Donald Trump when he was filmed bragging about groping women with impunity, left the 'NBC' show 'Today'.

The video drew ire from various quarters over the Republican candidate's treatment of women, some of whom have accused Trump of sexual harassment.

Bush had joined the 'Today' show in August. "Bush, one of the hosts of 'Today' on NBC is leaving the show as of Monday, according to an internal memo sent to staff by Vice President Noah Oppenheim, who oversees the broadcast," said 'NBC News'. "I am deeply grateful for the conversations I have had with my daughters and for all the support from family, friends and colleagues. I look forward to it," Bush said in a statement.

In the video, Trump can be heard bragging that he used his fame to grope and kiss women without their consent, while Bush laughs and jokes with the real estate mogul, who became a reality star with the program 'The Apprentice' .

Bush, who has said he was "sorry and embarrassed" for his role in the incident, earned $ 3.5 million a year on NBC hosting an hour-long morning news program with great entertainment content. Trump has apologized for his comments, but has insisted they were "costume comments."
