Out with quarrels! The British Royal Family puts aside the differences with Meghan to congratulate her
This Tuesday, the Duchess of Sussex turns 39 and does so, for the first time since she was married, away from Buckingham Palace and thousands of miles away
On the Duchess of Cambridge's 36th birthday, Meghan Markle presented her with a diary from Smythson, a highly regarded British brand specializing in luxury leather goods and stationery. This August 4, coinciding with that of the Duchess of Sussex, everything indicates that there will be no exchange of gifts, mainly due to the physical distance that separates one and the other - more than eight thousand. What has been produced is the pertinent congratulations. And, despite the differences that Prince Harry and her wife have starred in with the rest of the British Royal Family, this has wanted to put aside the tensions and has not hesitated to send its best wishes to Meghan Markle.
The first to do so was Queen Elizabeth II of England herself. Together with her husband, she made public a snapshot in which the sovereign appears waving while her grandson's wife stares at the camera, with a fixed smile on her face. The event to which the photograph corresponds is the first that Meghan attended with the Queen, with whom she traveled aboard the Royal Train to the English county of Cheshire. "We wish the Duchess of Sussex a very happy birthday," read the message accompanying the image.
It's no wonder the monarch decided to send her best wishes to Meghan. Despite the controversial biography of the Dukes of Sussex - which relates, among other things, the Duchess of Sussex's discomfort over the 'unfair treatment' she received from the Windsors - hovers over Buckingham in recent weeks, Isabel II has already made clear his intention to stage his 'reconciliation' with the couple by showing a portrait of him in his audience room, a detail loaded with great symbolism in the language of British royalty. Also, coinciding with the sovereign's birthday, Harry and Meghan made a video call so she could see her great-grandson Archie. Now it was time to change the roles.
Minutes later it was the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge who congratulated their sister-in-law. Resorting to the same message, however, they opted for a very different snapshot: in it, Meghan Markle appears smiling at a girl during one of her official acts, the same ones she used to attend before deciding - along with Harry - to renounce her obligations institutional institutions and thus cease to represent Elizabeth II. Also Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall have joined these beautiful messages and have put aside for a day any discrepancy or quarrel that may have settled between the two parties. They have done it with a picture of Meghan during her New Zealand tour. "Happy birthday to the Duchess of Sussex," they have written.
Ever since she gave 'yes I do' to Harry, Meghan has spent her birthdays close to the British Royal Family. This will be the first to happen on the other side of the pond, specifically in Los Angeles. She will predictably do so alongside her husband, her son, Archie, and her mother, Doria Ragland. The Megxit has radically changed her life and that of her family, although that will not prevent her from continuing to blow the candles on the same day as another illustrious member of the Windsor clan: the mother of Elizabeth II and Harry's great-grandmother. The Queen Mother, the wife of George VI, came into the world on August 4, 1900, 81 years before Meghan Markle did.
