What the relationship between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle hid according to the latest biography
From the rudeness of a shopping day to the first gift the Duchess of Sussex gave her sister-in-law
Away from Buckingham Palace. This is how Meghan Markle will spend her 39th birthday, settled with Prince Harry and little Archie in Los Angeles. A very different scenario if we go back to last year in which the Duchess of Sussex still held her royal role. What has so separated the Dukes and Windsors? The biography Finding Freedom, about to go on sale, sheds succulent details. It also clarifies the rivalry or antipathy that existed between Meghan and Kate, vox populi in the British media.
The time that Meghan Markle has belonged to the British Royal House has given much. So much so that even by setting aside her person does not arouse interest. The Dukes of Sussex come back to the fore. And not precisely to champion any of those solidarity causes that they usually support, the only excuse to see them lately since they moved indefinitely to the United States claiming they want more privacy. The reason is in a book that for its juicy content has already broken records in the Amazon presale.
This is the biography Finding Freedom written by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, expert correspondents on British royalty, from which some excerpts have already been published revealing surprising and unknown facts about marriage. Some kind, like the emoji with which Harry conquered Meghan. Others, not so much. Especially those referring to the relationship between the Duchess of Sussex and that of Cambridge, surrounded by rudeness, according to the authors.
"Meghan hoped that Kate would approach her and that was not what happened", thus The Sunday Times outlines the beginning of a conflict not externalized by its protagonists but on which rivers of ink have been poured. The newspaper has been one of the privileged to have access to the new biography of the Sussexes that will go on sale on August 11 and promises to shed light on the sudden "escape" of the marriage.
Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement, the press immediately joined Kate Middleton and Prince William in a brother-in-law tandem called "The Fantastic Four." They starred in some acts together, analyzed to the millimeter, and even shared an account on social networks. But Kate's reception of Meghan "never exceeded the distant courtesy," say Scobie and Durand. Very different in terms of character, it seems that kinship would not make the duchesses friends.
According to the publication, one of the details that the exactrix did not like at all was that Kate will not invite her to go shopping with her knowing that they would both go the same day to the same shopping area. A seemingly insignificant gesture but one that would have disappointed Meghan and Harry. The prince has reproached his family on more than one occasion for not feeling fully supported in their new relationship. Something that, even, would have diminished the closeness with her brother, Prince William.
The authors of this biographical account claim to have experienced the coldness between the duchesses in the first person. For example, during the King Power Royal Charity Polo Day held last summer. "The loving mothers were photographed together with their children, but barely exchanged a word," they say. They were not seen very close either last March when they met again in Wetsmister to attend the traditional religious service. Kate's aloof attitude would have "hurt" Meghan deeply, according to the book's authors, who after that "couldn't even imagine wanting to step foot in a royal act again."
There is also a place for anecdotes. The book reveals the first gift that the protagonist of Suits gave her sister-in-law: an agenda from Smythson, a prestigious English brand specializing in stationery. We don't know if Meghan will receive any birthday gifts from Kate. But we are eager to continue discovering details of this biography with soap opera overtones.
