Meghan Markle accused of plagiarizing her speech on network addiction from a Netflix documentary

Meghan Markle spoke on Tuesday about the worrying social media addiction many people suffer from at the Most Powerful Women Next Gen Summit organized by Fortune magazine. An applauded and commented speech in which some people have seen something that is familiar to them.

The Duchess of Sussex compared hooked netizens to drug addicts: "There are very few things in this world where the person who is interacting with it is called 'user'. People addicted to drugs are called 'user' and people who use social networks, too. "

This statement has attracted attention, because there are users, never better said, who have taken to Twitter to highlight that Prince Harry's wife has taken her information from the documentary The Dilemma of Netflix's social networks where they say something similar: "There is only two industries that call their customers users: illegal drugs and software. "

In addition, the alleged similarities of the actress did not stop there: "There is something algorithmically that is creating this obsession and in my opinion it is very unhealthy for people." This is also present in the program of the streaming platform, the idea that there is an algorithm that encourages addiction.

The users of the networks responded to Fortune highlighting these similarities and even attaching the phrases of the documentary: "Meghan has plagiarized her statements from The Dilemma of Social Networks (from Netflix)".

"Yes, I agree [with her], just like the documentary The Social Media Dilemma says that people on the Internet are 'users' just like addicts," said a tweeter. "Most of what she said seems to have come from the Netflix documentary," said another.

Even so, some pointed out that it is logical that Meghan Markle takes her information from other sources and that she has not plagiarized anything. In fact, one user even pointed out that these same statements could have been taken from "the experts she and Prince Harry met at Stanford when they were living in Canada."
