Melania Trump "in talks" to write her own memoirs as First Lady, reportedly
"Melania is in talks to write her memoirs at the White House," as the source says.
Melania Trump has been "having meetings" to discuss writing her own memoirs about her time at the White House, Page Six reports.
The future former first lady will leave the White House on January 20 and will likely take up permanent residence at Donald Trump's Mar-A-Lago resort in Florida.
But Trump was not expected to leave the White House "as quietly as might be expected," according to a source in the Page Six report.
"Melania is in meetings to write her memoirs at the White House," the source said. "And it would be her money, a chance for her to win on her own."
Trump was reportedly "encouraging" her to keep writing the memoirs, the source added.
This book would come after Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, a former senior adviser and friend of Trump, published her own revealing memoir about the first lady in September titled Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship With the First Lady.
In the memoirs, Wolkoff detailed her personal relationship with the first lady, including personal conversations that didn't put Trump in the best light. In addition to publishing the memoirs, Wolkoff also revealed a series of leaked tapes of conversations he recorded with the first lady.
Trump addressed the controversial memoirs in an essay he wrote for the White House website. But he did not name Wolkoff in the trial, instead claiming he "barely knew" the former adviser.
"We all know that most of the time, information that could be useful to children is lost in the noise that selfish adults make. I recently found this to be the case as the claims were enthusiastically covered by the mainstream media. Lewd from a former contractor who advised my office. A person who said she 'made' me even though she barely knew me, and someone who clung to me after my husband won the presidency, "Trump wrote.
Writing his own memoirs could be a way for Trump to address past moments during his four years in the White House, including discussing Wolkoff's memoir and the infamous "I really don't care, do I?" jacket he wore in 2018.
She may not be the only one within the Trump administration to write an account after leaving the White House.
Trump has indicated that he could write his own memoirs after journalist Bob Woodward published his books Fear and Rage on the Trump presidency.
"Woodward's book is a joke, just another assault on me, in a series of assaults, using now-disproved anonymous and anonymous sources. Many have already come forward to say that quotes from them, like the book, are fiction. Democrats can 'I can't bear to lose. I'll write the real book!' Trump tweeted in September.
