The three religious beliefs of the Trump family

Donald Trump is a Presbyterian, Melania converted to Catholicism and Ivanka, the president's daughter, to Judaism in order to marry

The Trump Family has been this week on their first tour of Europe. The trip has had a special relevance, not only because it is the first tour of its kind for Donald Trump and his wife, but because of the significance of the places they have visited. Key moments for a family in which three different religions are practiced, the first to visit the most sacred place for her confession was Ivanka Trump. The president's adviser daughter converted to Judaism in 2009 so she could marry Jared Kushner.

The family practices the Sabbath and eat kosher products. During the presidential campaign, Donald Trump wrote the most controversial tweets taking advantage of the rest of his daughter, who from Friday night until the end of Saturday can not do any work or handle things with electricity. For her conversion, Ivanka had to take several courses in the synagogue, study the Torah and receive authorization from a rabbi to proclaim her Jewish. One of the demands on Jews is that they visit Israel at least once in their life.

Ivanka had that opportunity on May 22, when the family landed in Israel. Ivanka was able to enjoy a moment of private prayer in front of the Western Wall, the holiest place in Judaism. According to Jewish tradition, the most common thing that is requested in front of that holy place is the arrival of the Messiah. "I am thankful for having the experience with a deep meaning for me to visit the holiest place of my faith and leave a small prayer sheet," Ivanka wrote on her Instagram after the time she spent in front of the wall.

Something similar happened to Melania last Wednesday. The Trump family landed in Rome on Tuesday the 23rd and on Wednesday morning they had a private audience with Pope Francis. Melania was very excited throughout the meeting, since she is Catholic, this was confirmed by her spokesperson to the British newspaper

Daily Mail. Donald Trump's wife converted to Catholicism when she matured. She is the daughter of a communist politician, she was not baptized at her birth nor did she receive her First Communion from her in her youth. However, her spokeswoman has not confirmed when she began to believe.

The first lady has been seen praying the Our Father after an act during the Donald Trump campaign. In addition, during the trip to Rome she crossed herself in front of the sculpture of the Virgin that presided over the entrance to the Bambino GesĂș hospital that she visited and she received a rosary blessed by the Pope.

"Visiting the Holiness of him Pope Francis is something I will never forget. It has been a humble honor. Blessings to all," she wrote on her Twitter account after the visit. Melania really enjoyed the stop in Rome and the Vatican. The best news she has received from her is that, after the visit to the hospital, a boy who needed a heart transplant found a donor from her.

Melania is the first Catholic lady in the White House since the Kennedy marriage. However, unlike John, Donald does not share a religion with his wife or his youngest son, Barron, who has also been educated in Catholicism. The president, influenced by family upbringing, is a Presbyterian. He practices the same religion as his mother and on occasion he has been seen going to the evangelical church. The president could hold discussions with his wife about the differences of the Catholic and Presbyterian precepts, although both religions are born of Christianity.
