This is Melania Trump's daily routine: she eats 7 pieces of fruit a day, is a full-time mother and is finally stepping out as first lady
Although her husband is in the spotlight every day, first lady Melania Trump chooses to lead a relatively secluded life.
She spends a lot of time caring for her 12-year-old son Barron, calling herself a "full-time mother."
But now that she has lived in the White House for almost a year, she has also taken on many of the duties that come with being the first lady. For example, she is involved in the design of the White House and she thinks about events.
This is what Melania's daily routine looks like:
Melania gets up around 5:30 in the morning, just as early as her husband. The two sleep in separate bedrooms.
Melania then makes sure that her son, Barron, is ready for school. She often has to check whether he really has his homework in his bag.
Melania considers raising her son her "first job". In the morning she also prepares his breakfast and lunch.
When the family was still living in New York, Melania always took her son to school and picked him up at the end of the day. She also helped him with his homework and went to school appointments.
Melania works out at home every morning. She says she practices pilates, walks around the house with weights on her ankles, and plays tennis.
In addition to exercising, Melania also follows a healthy diet. She would eat seven fruits a day and often have breakfast with a smoothie or oatmeal.
Although she eats healthy, Melania sometimes sins by eating chocolate or ice cream. Her favorite meal would be the chicken parmigiana at the three-star Jean-Georges restaurant in New York City.
She takes a lot of vitamins to keep her skin and hair in top condition, uses a lot of creams and washes her face daily.
Healthy living also includes getting enough sleep, so a good night's sleep is extremely important to Melania.
During the day, Melania sometimes presides over meetings at the White House or sits down with her husband.
She also spends a lot of time working with and lobbying for children. She regularly visits schools and children's hospitals.
And she also regularly receives small groups of people in her East Wing office for meetings.
Melania tries her best to stay away from the West Wing and lets her husband go about his business during the day - unless the two have to attend an event together.
When Melania doesn't have to do anything for her country for a while, she is often with her parents and her son. Her parents have moved to Washington, D.C.
One of Melania's official duties is to help organize important White House events, such as the Easter Egg Roll and state visits by, for example, French President Emmanuel Macron.
Melania also led the team of White House employees in decorating the house for Christmas. She has a good relationship with the staff.
She manages the staff in the house and on the state floor. As a perfectionist, she pays attention to every detail and enjoys leaving her mark on the White House.
That's why she also redesigned the living area. She mainly used neutral colors.
Before Donald Trump's 2016 campaign began, Melania attended many premieres, exclusive parties and dinners in New York. Now her agenda is mainly filled with official events in the White House.
When Melania wants to relax, she likes to take a bubble bath. She also often visits her family's private resort in Palm Beach, Florida on weekends.
Sometimes her husband and Melania don't travel together.
And now that Melania has rolled out her own initiatives, she's finally in the spotlight as first lady.
