Donald Trump doesn't deserve an ounce of your compassion
It was an outburst of pure joy. For the first time in my life, I cheered someone else's misfortune. I pumped my fist. It was the best I had felt in months.
Donald Trump finally had the virus that he rejected.
Then I asked myself, "What if he lies?"
Here we have arrived.
Imagine the world where ordinary people grin at the news that their president has been infected with a plague. Then you wonder if helping him win an election could be a political ploy.
It's worrying.
But I'm not putting it past him. I'm not the only one who can imagine Trump faking a case of COVID-19 just to convince everyone that he is right once and for all. He would look forward to it for years.
So no. I don't feel bad thinking about it.
Donald Trump deserves whatever happens.
This should happen when someone like Donald Trump spends decades ruining people's lives. It should happen when someone trivializes other people's suffering for political purposes, argues with scientists, and plays golf while thousands of people die. It should happen to someone who shrugs and says "It is what it is" at 200,000 deaths.
He was going to get the disease that made him so negligent.
Politicians need to express their sympathy and support for Donald Trump, even if they don't really feel about him.
You don't mind. It doesn't diminish you. Our compassion has limits. Trump got right where he is by pursuing everyone else's humanity. Showing kindness only enables and empowers him to cause more pain.
Here is a great list of reasons why you don't need to feel sorry, empathy, or compassion for Donald Trump:
This is direct karma.
Today is a lesson in cosmic justice.
You can't make politics with a pandemic. You cannot lie to millions of people about the deadliness of a virus. You can't ignore scientists and tell everyone to go shopping. You can't hold massive rallies and pretend it's okay. You do not risk everyone's health, including children, without paying for it.
Trump's downfall is his own cause.
It's not just about the pandemic.
Donald Trump lived the life of a billionaire with hundreds of millions of dollars in debt. Then he ran for the highest political office in the country, knowing that his debts made him vulnerable to foreign influence. He and his family traded national secrets for favors.
Trump only cares about himself.
He talks garbage about his own supporters when they're not around. He was ready to kill millions to achieve herd immunity.
He bet he could lead a reckless life, treat others like disposable cups, and escape the consequences.
He made a wrong bet.
Donald Trump is a coward.
Trump acts hard on the stage. He threatens. It's all an act. In reality, Donald Trump is afraid of everything.
He is afraid of germs.
And yet he was wrong to believe that he was invincible. He boasts of his genius and excellent genes.
When the free world stood up to Trump, he hid in a bunker. He planned to turn our house into a dictatorship.
Now he will have to reckon with the virus of which he was so afraid but which was released with such negligence.
Donald Trump is a liar.
Donald Trump has told more than 20,000 lies in four years. Everyone lies. But you can't get away with so many.
He told you and your neighbors not to wear a mask. He told you to use dangerous drugs and inject yourself with bleach. Some people took him seriously. Now they are dead.
He will never apologize.
But with a little luck he will see what he has brought on.
Donald Trump is a puppet.
Trump will not withstand Vladimir Putin, our greatest opponent at the moment. He makes Russians pay Afghan snipers to kill American soldiers. He says nothing. He treats Putin like a boss, a hero.
Trump makes himself comfortable with white supremacists. When asked to condemn them, he urges these groups to "stand by" instead. He thinks he's using it. But it's the other way around. They use it and it gives them broad permission to violate human rights.
Donald Trump is full of jealousy.
Donald Trump fills his office with fake trophies. He collects awards from other people including heavyweight championship belts. He shows fake front pages of himself.
There's a reason why.
Trump cannot go five minutes without comparing himself to someone else, especially Barack Obama, whom he has made his archenemy. He hates it when other people succeed because he's a failure.
A year ago, Trump was listening to a Yazidi human rights activist. She described the slaughter of her entire family and asked for his help. He could only talk about the Nobel Prize she had won.
You could see it on his face. He could only think of why she had won an award he coveted for himself.
Donald Trump is an untested narcissist.
Trump has flown around the world playing golf, spending $ 134 million in tax dollars that could have been used to fund health care or fight climate change. He spends the rest of his time at rallies and press conferences, where he either lies or exchanges insults with reporters.
He uses the Attorney General as his personal attorney to defend himself against sexual assault.
He cannot listen to another person speak for ten seconds. His first shorter one, Ted Gistaro, quit because he couldn't get Trump to watch out for updates to his own intelligence services.
Donald Trump treats himself like a landfill.
You shouldn't be surprised if Donald Trump disregards human life. Check out how he treats himself.
He lives on fast food. He's nearly a hundred pounds overweight. His blood pressure and cholesterol are high even for someone on medication. The man doesn't even look at a vegetable.
He hires quacks to lie to him about his health.
He covered himself with spray tan.
Of course, Donald Trump believes you are available. He thinks he eats what he wants. He thinks he doesn't need to move. He spends all day increasing his own stress.
It's a portrait of everything you shouldn't be doing.
Donald Trump chooses misery.
Trump has achieved one thing all his life. He made himself one of the most miserable people in the world.
He made everyone around him feel the same way.
His own wife won't touch him.
You'd think someone who has inherited millions of dollars could find a way to enjoy life. You would find a passion. They would start their own company. They would take up social issues. Trump pretended to do this, but it didn't bring him any sense of satisfaction or fulfillment. Maybe that's because his charities are often just fronts.
The story of Donald Trump is tragic.
In the end, it is sobering that so many people are cheering for the overthrow of our president. It didn't have to be like that.
This is a tragic story.
It's a story about what happens when you show absolutely no respect for any human life other than your own. It's about what happens when you refuse to show a hint of remorse or an ounce of compassion. It's what happens when you spread nothing but hatred.
Many people never get what they really deserve.
Donald Trump could.
