Joe Biden would choose Michelle Obama ... if he could!
In an interview with KDKA (CBS, Pittsburgh), Joe Biden said he would choose Michelle Obama as his running mate on the spot.
One important factor, however, is preventing the Democratic candidate from moving forward: Obama does not seem interested. The former first lady enjoys incredible popularity around the world and in the United States. Significant factor: many Republican women support him.
Michelle Obama has never been keen on politics, and her reluctance has long been documented. Her husband's entourage intervened on several occasions to limit the scope of her criticism. We can safely say that his current role suits him better.
Listening to her for three years, we feel that, despite the support for her husband's policies and the recognition of the symbolic importance of the presence of a black family in the White House, the continued media attention and the security measures are not lacking at all.
I've been interested in politics long enough to know that a surprise can never be ruled out, but I would be particularly surprised if Michelle Obama would reverse her decision to agree to serve alongside Joe Biden. While Mrs. Obama is ambitious and has enormous potential, she is not passionate or obsessed with politics and power like Hillary Clinton used to be.
In addition, there is no shortage of projects for the Obama couple. Their production house recently received a first Oscar and the couple can convey their values on a considerable number of platforms. Netflix, Instagram and Spotify are tearing them apart and the couple also continue to post. Michelle and Barack Obama have grown into a gigantic, gold-priced company.
If Michelle Obama is not running for vice-presidency, however, rest assured that she will be seen a lot by November 3, election day. Democratic strategists are reportedly busy recording a video as well as planning a schedule of appearances for the capsules broadcast regularly by Joe Biden.
The current context of containment still limits the impact that the Obama couple can have on political rallies, but the Democratic team will not hesitate to exploit the potential of this duo-shock which has a significant strike force.
So it appears that supporters of the former First Lady who wanted her return to the White House will have to mourn their hopes.
Biden is reportedly still on his pick, but the names that have been circulating more frequently since last week are Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Stacey Abrams and Gretchen Whitmer.
Joe Biden has promised a wife. Will it be black? The four women named are competent and qualified for this position. Will the Democratic candidate feel the need to play the ethnicity card to further evoke the diversity of the country? We will find out soon.
