The Deputy National Security Councilor resigns from his position after the taking of the Capitol
Stephanie Grisham, the chief of staff of the first lady of the United States, Melania Trump, as well as three other members of the cabinet of the president, Donald Trump, have resigned after the escalation of tension in the Capitol, which has been assaulted this Wednesday by followers of the president in full certification of the electoral results.
White House sources have advanced to 'CNN' the departure of Stephanie Grisham, one of the people who had been working the longest for the Trump Administration. In her resignation, for which the reasons have not been officially disclosed, Grisham has stated that it has immediate effect.
Melania Trump's chief of staff had also previously worked on the White House communications team.
Grisham has not been the only one to leave her post after the taking of the Capitol, the Deputy National Security Adviser, Matt Pottinger has also resigned from her position, as well as the Social Secretary of the White House, Anna Cristina Niceta.
Pottinger intended to resign on November presidential election day, regardless of the outcome, however he remained in office at the request of National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien, who is also among the possible defectors reported in the US press.
Assault on the Capitol
The White House Deputy Secretary of Press, Sarah Matthews, is the fourth person in the Trump Administration to resign from her post after the recent events, and the US press does not rule out that more members of the Government will do so in the following hours.
