"Nobody tells Melania Trump what to do", the real face of the first lady revealed
Who is Melania Trump really? A portrait rich in tasty anecdotes gives another look at the first lady.
Since her husband's accession to the White House, the attitude of his wife Melania Trump has been the subject of questions. What are (really) her relations with her husband Donald Trump? Regularly, rumors of separation rekindle tensions. Present on social networks, the first lady is frequently the object of criticism (especially on her luxury tastes). And if she sometimes takes a stand against her husband politically, she stands up at his side.
Our colleagues from the NYT dedicate a long and tasty portrait to the first lady. The opportunity to learn more about his life at the White House, his family life with Donald and their son Barron, his fights, his state of mind too. Because the former model is rare in interview. From there to imagine her being restrained by her husband ... some wanted to see in her attitude an attitude of submission. It is not so. His jacket with "I don't care" message set the tone. We also remember his pussy bow shirt ... as a message to Donald Trump after his sexist remarks. Let it be said, no one is forcing anything on Melania Trump.
An independent woman
Ms Trump "remains loyal to the independent woman who did it by doing it her own way," wrote Stephanie Grisham, her communications director, in an email. "It should be celebrated, not criticized. Her priorities remain her family, her personal life and her role as first lady." Described as warm by Brigitte Macron, her personality is however debate. If her husband's firm explained that this jacket was addressed to the media, it could have been passed for a lack of respect. Separately, a close friend of Ms Trump had said the jacket was actually intended for anyone - both inside and outside the White House - who wanted to criticize her decision to visit immigrant children.
To end the controversy, her communications officer tried to explain that no one was forcing anything on the 48-year-old former model ... "Nobody tells the first lady what to do," said Ms. Grisham. "Our office had nothing to do with the clothing choices she made and it was no different." Not sure that this is enough to put an end to the controversy.
