Donald Trump Jr and Vanessa, a divorce praised by the judge

The president's eldest son and his wife, who formally separated in March, maintain a cordial relationship and manage to agree to custody of their five children

The eldest son of the president of the United States, Donald Trump Jr. and his wife Vanessa have gone to the Manhattan Supreme Court on Thursday to start the divorce proceedings, as reported by the Associated Press. The couple, who separated last March, maintain a cordial relationship although they have had to solve some problems such as child custody and financial aspects. This last issue is the only thing that, for the moment, blocks the progress of the procedures, as revealed by People magazine.

Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump had been married for 12 years and together they had five children. As reported by British media The Daily Mail, the couple's former lawyer has reported that some financial issues "have not been resolved so far." Trump Jr.'s attorney, Norman Heller, however specified that "the whole matter" will be resolved in the coming weeks, the magazine reports, based on an article by Page Six. This same portal revealed last May that Vanessa Trump had inherited millions of dollars from her father and that a lawyer specialized in divorce, Raoul Felder, had announced that Donald Trump Jr. "could not touch" that amount of money.

"The State of New York, like other states, makes a division between separate property or common property. Only common property can be divided," said the lawyer, who, however, does not take the case of the couple.

This Thursday, Judge Michael Katz congratulated Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump for reaching an agreement on the custody of the children. "I would like to congratulate you both for resolving any differences you may have had on these issues," Katz said. "They managed to prioritize their children and take steps to protect them from what could have been an invasive litigation process. Not everyone can do that," he added.

In mid-March the president's son and his wife announced their separation. Although the procedures have been friendly, she filed the lawsuit. When she was pregnant with her third child, Vanessa discovered that her husband was cheating on her with Aubrey O'Day, singer and former contestant on the Celebrity Apprentice program (which in Spain was The Apprentice), presented for years by her father, today President Trump.

A few weeks after the announcement of their separation, in April, the president's eldest son spent a few days hunting in Teruel. Somewhat later, in May, it became known that Trump Jr. was dating Fox News (pro-Trump television) host Kimberly Guilfoyle
