Giuliani, Miller writes in a tweet, will remain "friend and ally" of Trump, of whom he is not providing defense simply because there are no open cases that require it, he argued. But the explanation does not convince most. Last month, however, Donald Trump complained about Giuliani after being the subject of a second impeachment proceeding. He had told his staff to suspend the payment of fees due to the lawyer. This was reported to CNN by a source according to which it was not clear whether he was serious or joking.
Just yesterday Trump issued a caustic statement against Republican Senator Mitch McConnell, declaring war on him for not helping him to subvert the election result. Trump called him a "bad politician" and urged the party to drop him. "With political leaders like Senator Mitch McConnell - he wrote - the Republican party can never be respected or strong". "Mitch - he continued - is an austere politician, grumpy and devoid of smiles, and if the republican senators stay with him, they won't win anymore, because he won't do anything that needs to be done, or that is right. for the country".
The attack came a few days after the senator's declaration that, at the end of the debate on impeachment, for which he voted for Trump's acquittal, McConnell had however defined him as "morally responsible" for the siege of Capitol Hill of January 6 by the insurrectionists. The minority leader called a condemnation of Trump "unconstitutional" but at the same time said the former president could be prosecuted. In a speech in the Wall Street Journal on Sunday, McConnell had defended his position, infuriating Trump.
