On a visit to the monument to Pope John Paul II, the US president is seen saying a few words to the first lady, who then makes a forced smile
A video circulating on social media shows the US presidential couple at the monument to Pope John Paul II in northeast Washington, where Trump appears to be telling Melania to smile for the photo.
According to the British newspaper "The Independent", Trump seemed to tell the first lady to smile as they were photographed at the monument.
The clip shows Trump leaning over and saying something to Melania and then she makes a face with her mouth.

In the images, the president is seen smiling after talking to the couple about him.
"Then he seemed to notice that she was not smiling and spoke to her again before Melania Trump forced a quick smile and left her with her husband," the outlet noted.
Trump's visit to the Pope's monument created discomfort among Catholic leaders.

"I find it disconcerting and reprehensible that a Catholic site is allowed to be used and manipulated in a way that violates the most basic religious principles," Washington Archbishop Wilton Gregory said in a statement.
The pontiff, who died in 2005, "certainly would not condone the use of tear gas and other deterrents to silence, disperse or intimidate" to take a photo in a place of worship, he added.
On Monday protesters were protesting peacefully when they were dispersed with tear gas to clear the area for Trump to pose, who walked a few feet from the White House for the photo.
