Donald and Melania Trump were secretly vaccinated before leaving the White House, according to 'The New York Times'
Trump, who was infected with covid-19 last September, assured this Sunday that "everyone should go to receive the injection from him"
Former US President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania Trump, were secretly vaccinated against COVID-19 last January before leaving the White House, according to The New York Times. An adviser to the former president consulted by the newspaper confirmed that the Republican received the vaccine in private.
At the end of September, Trump was infected with covid-19, as well as his wife, and had to be hospitalized for three days in a military hospital in Washington, which he left after being administered the experimental cocktail of antibodies from the pharmaceutical Regeneron and the antiviral remdesivir. During his tenure, Trump came to acknowledge that he had purposely underestimated the severity of the disease early in the pandemic so as not to panic Americans, in a series of interviews with journalist Bob Woodward for his book Rage. A government official said in mid-December that Trump would not be given the vaccine until recommended by the White House medical team.
Last Sunday, Trump assured in a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC, in English) that "everyone should go to receive their injection", in his first public intervention since the end of his term, last 20 from January.
The information from The New York Times, however, does not establish which vaccine was administered to Donald and Melania Trump, the Moderna or the Pfizer. Nor if they both received the first or both doses.
