Donald Trump again charged with sexual assault

Former top model, Amy Dorris accuses the billionaire of having assaulted her in September 1997 in New York. The prescribed facts add to a very long list of allegations against the current US president.

Already well supplied, the Wikipedia file devoted to accusations of sexual abuse against Donald Trump has just been enriched with a new victim. Amy Dorris, a 48-year-old former American model, confided in The Guardian daily: she accuses the billionaire of having sexually assaulted her in September 1997 in New York.

Aged 24, Amy Dorris, who lives in Florida, spends a few days in New York with her boyfriend Jason Binn, founder of several fashion magazines and friend of Donald Trump. On September 5, after a stop at the Trump Tower in Manhattan, the couple went, in the company of the real estate mogul, to the US Open tennis tournament, located in the district of Queens, where Trump has a dressing room. VIP.

At the Guardian, Amy Dorris says she went to the toilet, separated from the lodge by a partition, to adjust her contact lenses. When he comes out, Trump waits for him outside: "Initially, I thought he was waiting to go to the bathroom, but unfortunately he wasn't." After a brief exchange, she continues, the billionaire pounces on her: “He stuck his tongue in my mouth and I tried to push him away. He then tightened his embrace. His hands were very wandering, on my buttocks, my chest, my back, everywhere. ” "No, please stop," she recalls telling Trump, 51 at the time, but "he didn't care."

"A whirlwind"

After the alleged assault, Amy Dorris, "shocked", joins her friend and the other guests. "I was just trying to go back and talk to everyone and have a good time because, I don't know why, I felt the pressure to behave like that." In the days that followed, she saw Donald Trump on several occasions, at Trump Tower, again at the US Open and then at a ceremony in memory of Gianni Versace, murdered a few weeks earlier. She meets several celebrities also invited by the billionaire, including Lenny Kravitz, Puff Daddy and Leonardo DiCaprio. If he does not attack her again, Trump, she assures, repeatedly makes strong advances.

Why did you see him again in the days following the assault? asks the Guardian. “I came from Florida and I was with Jason. I had no money, no place to go. We went from event to event, it was a whirlwind, ”she replies, explaining that she needed time to assimilate what had happened to her.

Twenty-three years later, Amy Dorris, mother of two teenage daughters, has decided to speak publicly. “My daughters are going to be 13 soon and I want them to know that nobody is allowed to do something to us that they don't want […]. I want them to see that I was not silent, and that I stood up against someone who did something unacceptable. ” In the State of New York, the facts described by Amy Dorris are prescribed after five years.

"Political" accusations

Contacted by the British daily, Donald Trump's lawyers brushed aside Amy Dorris' accusations and denied any inappropriate behavior on the part of the billionaire. According to the Guardian, the President's defense estimated that if the reported facts had really taken place, "there would have been many witnesses", and that the timing of the revelations, a month and a half before the November 3 presidential election, suggested possible “political motivations”.

However, several elements seem to contradict this hypothesis. Amy Dorris first spoke to The Guardian almost a year and a half ago. Importantly, right after the alleged assault, she recounted the facts to her mother and a friend from New York, who confirmed her account to the British newspaper.

Since the 1970s, Donald Trump has been accused of rape, sexual assault or harassment by dozens of women. Among these multiple allegations, only two had been made public before his candidacy for the White House, in particular by his first wife, Ivana Trump, who accused him of rape during their divorce proceedings in 1989, before retracting.

The other alleged victims have come forward since 2016, particularly after a video from Access Hollywood appeared shortly before the election, in which Trump participated in 2005. In a vulgar and misogynistic conversation, Trump stood by boasted of kissing women "right away", without waiting for any consent. “When you're a star, they let us do it. We can do whatever we want. Catch them by the pussy. We can do whatever we want. "

Weakened by the dissemination of these obscene comments, Trump had apologized but ruled out abandoning the race. Several charges of sexual assault and harassment had emerged. But a few weeks later, the real estate mogul won the election. A victory used by his close guard to sweep aside the accusations, as if the ballot boxes had replaced justice: “The people of this country, in a decisive election, gave their support to President Trump. And we have the feeling that these allegations have found an answer through this [electoral] process ”, declared his spokesperson in December 2017.

Nearly 70 accusers

Since then, other alleged Trump victims have come forward. Including author E. Jean Carroll, renowned columnist for the American version of Elle magazine, who last year accused Donald Trump of raping her in 1995 or 1996 in the changing room of a luxury store. -Yorkais, which this one strongly denied. Now 76, she lodged a defamation complaint against the President, who called her a "liar". The procedure is underway.

In a book released last year in the United States, and translated in June in France (1), investigative journalists Barry Levine and Monique El-Faizy were interested in the relationship with women of the "predator" Donald Trump, of his childhood to his political rise, including his career in real estate and television. The book revealed some 40 new allegations, bringing to nearly 70 the number of women accusing the US president of harassment, sexual assault or rape. By breaking the silence after more than two decades, Amy Dorris has just been added to the list.
