Harry and Meghan recounting the royal struggles, from conversations about a child's skin tone to suicidal thoughts

Conversations about how "dark" their baby's skin tone is. The quarrel between Prince Harry and his father is so deep that Harry said his father once "stopped taking my calls." And Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, says she "doesn't want to live anymore."

These are some of the shocking details that Harry and Meghan shared in an exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey, the first they have given since leaving the royal service last year. They said they would have stayed if they had received support from the royal family.

In one of the simplest moments, the couple have unveiled their second child, expected this summer, to become a girl.

But Harry and Meghan have spent most of the conversation trying to put their side of the story in the many stories that have been broadcast about them since they met, including one that Meghan had been crying for her daughter-in-law, Catherine.

While they were critical of their treatment in the newspapers, the most disturbing parts of the interview focused on their treatment by members of the royal family. Harry said he had a "very good relationship" with the Queen, but said he was "disappointed" by his father and that, while loving his brother William "in a sense," they were on different paths.

Meghan said "in the months when I was pregnant ... we had conversations that she would not be given safety, she would not be given a title, and concerns and discussions about how dark her skin would be when she was born."

Meghan said she "had a very clear and terrifying idea" about suicide while she was an active member of the royal family. Harry said he did not receive support from the royal family for his mental health, saying, "it was not a conversation he should have had."

The couple focused on the royal family's refusal to provide for them, and was deeply concerned about Harry's death. She said her experience with Meghan showed her how difficult it was for her mother.

Some parts of the interview were shown only Monday on "CBS This Morning."
