Harry & Meghan, the whole truth in the interview from Oprah
The couple confessed in a long interview with disturbing details of their life as royalty
THE SECOND HEIR IS COMING
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expecting a baby girl, who will be born next summer. She will be the second child, after Archie, born in May 2019. It is one of the news they gave during the interview with Oprah Winfrey, which aired in the United States last night (tonight Italian time) on the CBS television channel. From the secret marriage to Meghan's suicidal thoughts, to the concerns of the royal family about the color of their baby's skin: in a sort of showdown, the dukes of Sussex talked for two hours about relations with the English royal house (without references directed to the queen), revealing unpublished details that then led them to move to Los Angeles and cut off relations with the royal family.
THE SECRET MARRIAGE
"Three days before our wedding, we got married", revealed the Duchess of Sussex, saying they had said the fateful yes in front of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, before the solemn mass on 19 May 2018: "We called the 'Archbishop and we said:' Look, this show is for the world, but we want our union to be among us' ". "It was only when we got married and everything started to get worse that I realized that not only was I not protected, but that they were ready to lie to protect other family members. But they were not willing to tell the truth to protect. me and my husband, "Meghan said in a passage of the interview.
"THE REAL FAMILY CONCERNED ABOUT ARCHIE SKIN COLOR"
The former actress, who is of mixed race, said that members of the royal family were concerned about the skin color of her son Archie, before she was born. From the beginning of the pregnancy they had expressed "concerns (...) about how dark his skin would be", "what it would mean and how it would be". Harry refused to say more about the content of the conversations he had with his family about the color of his son's skin: "This conversation I don't intend to reveal, ever. At the time it was embarrassing, I was a little shocked. But it was. What was the baby going to be like? It was at the beginning when it became clear that she (Meghan) was not going to get protection. "
MEGHAN'S SUICIDE THOUGHTS
Meghan Markle then revealed that she had thoughts of suicide due to the British media coverage of her person and that the royal family would later refuse to let her get help: "I just didn't want to be alive anymore. And they were constant thoughts, terrifying, real and very clear. I said that I had never felt like this before (...) and I was told that I could not, that it would not be good for the institution ".
HARRY TRAPPED
"I was also trapped," Prince Harry later said: "I couldn't see a way out. I was trapped but I didn't know. (...) I was trapped by the system, like the rest of my family. . My father and brother are prisoners. They don't have a chance to leave and I have a lot of compassion for them. " then, referring to the story of her mother Diana, she said: "I can't imagine what it was like for her to go through everything alone all these years, because it was incredibly difficult for both of us - but at least we could count on each other. . We have done everything possible "to stay in the royal family," concluded Harry.
THE REACTION OF THE ENGLISH
While Meghan's courage is praised in the US, in Great Britain it is quite another music and many ask on Twitter that she and Harry are deprived of the title of Dukes of Sussex. "The Queen must strip Harry and Meghan of their titles, remove Harry from the succession and deny him any financial support. The family must cut them off. Harry doesn't care about his family. Meghan only cares about attention and money," he writes. one of the many British users furious with the couple. "Meghan and Harry are an affront to this country," writes another. Unleashed television journalist Piers Morgan, who speaks on Twitter of "betrayal of the queen".
"Harry wants America and the rest of the world to hate his family, the royal family and his country", urges the former editor of the Daily Mirror, who also speaks of "baseless rubbish accusations" against the sovereign, while her husband Filippo is in hospital. In the United States the tone is quite different, with the theme of racism at the center of much comment. Starting with Serena Williams, who in a long message on Twitter says she understands "the pain and cruelty" suffered by Meghan, recalling having experienced "first hand the sexism and racism of the institutions and the media, used to denigrate the women and people of color ".
