Meghan Markle's controversial father asks Oprah to interview him too
Thomas, Meghan Markle's father has asked the famous journalist Oprah Winfrey to interview him to talk about her dispute with her daughter, with whom he says he has not spoken since 2018.
As reported by The Sun, Thomas Markle, 76, asked to give his version of events in a letter that he personally delivered to the presenter's home in California.
Thomas Markle appeared on ITV's Good Morning Britain the day after the airing of the explosive interview of his daughter and Prince Harry with Oprah Winfrey. On the show, Thomas Markle recounted that he is desperate to talk to her daughter and reconcile with her. He also admitted that they had gotten into a fight after she got angry with him for speaking to the press in the lead up to her wedding in 2018.
During her interview with Oprah, Meghan said that her father's statement to her press had caused her enormous damage and called it "treason."
On her side, Thomas Markle came to the defense of the British royal family following the accusations of her daughter, who she said she suffered from racist comments within the Buckinghams.
"I have great respect for family members, and I don't think they are racist at all. I don't think British people are racist, I think Los Angeles is racist, California is racist, but I don't think British people are." Thomas Markle said.
"What color will the baby be or how dark the baby's skin will be, I guess and hope it was just a silly question from someone, you know, it could be that simple," added Thomas Markle.
