Melania Trump generated controversy over a garment she used to visit a migrant shelter
Melania Trump visited the border between the United States and Mexico on June 21, 2018, where thousands of migrant children have been separated from their parents as a policy of the president of this country, Donald Trump. For her visit, the first lady of the United States chose a green jacket with a message that has aroused controversy: "I really don't care, do you?"
It can be read on the back of the garment. Images captured by photographers from different international agencies show Melania Trump wearing the jacket before boarding the presidential plane at Andrews Military Base located in Maryland this Thursday. However, she removed the garment before stepping off the plane in Texas. As reported by the US portal BuzzFeed, Stephanie Grisham, a spokeswoman for Melania Trump assured that there is no "hidden message" behind the woman's outfit. "It's just a jacket," said the woman who added that she hoped that the message from it "does not steal media attention."
Despite the words of her spokeswoman, US President Donald Trump affirmed through a Twitter message that the jacket did have a 'hidden' message. "It refers to the media that broadcast fake news. Melania has learned how dishonest they are and she really doesn't care anymore," Trump tweeted. "I REALLY DON'T CARE, DO U?" written on the back of Melania’s jacket, refers to the Fake News Media. Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares! - Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 21, 2018 On Twitter, Stephanie Grisham said that Melania Trump's visit to the center of her had a "huge impact" on her.
"If the media invested her time and energy in her actions and efforts to help children rather than speculating and focusing on her wardrobe we could accomplish many actions on behalf of children," she wrote. She accompanied her message with the hashtags #SheCares (She cares) and #ItsJustAJacket (It's just a jacket).
Today’s visit w the children in Texas impacted @flotus greatly. If media would spend their time & energy on her actions & efforts to help kids - rather than speculate & focus on her wardrobe - we could get so much accomplished on behalf of children. #SheCares #ItsJustAJacket

Criticism of the First Lady rained down on Twitter, despite her spokeswoman's comments. A user identified as 9,000 posted on his account an image of Paris Hilton wearing a T-shirt with the message "stop being poor." The tweeter accompanied the photograph with the text "Melania Trump visited migrant children at the border."

José Angel Abad, for his part, wrote: "It is only an unfortunate coincidence. But certainly inopportune. The jacket that Melania has put on today to visit children separated from their parents by Trump's immigration order says:" Not really I care, do you? "By the way, it's from Zara! Congratulations." It's just an unfortunate coincidence. But certainly untimely. The jacket Melania is wearing today to visit children separated from her parents by Trump's immigration order reads, "I really don't care, do you?"
Another user identified as Lorena, tweeted: "For those who believe that she is also another victim of Donald Trump's sick #MelaniaTrump, she wore a jacket that says" I don't care, do you? To visit detained and caged children ".
It is not the first time that Melania Trump's clothing has sparked controversy. When she and her husband visited the city of Houston after Hurricane Andrew in 2017, Melania Trump wore high heels that were also criticized.
After leaving the child detention facility that Trump visited today in Texas, the first lady wore the garment again upon her arrival at Andrews Military Base. According to Buzzfeed, the temperature in the place was around 27 degrees Celsius and the weather was humid.
