Melania Trump leaves the White House in complete secrecy
The first lady of the United States is spending her last two days at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and has been preparing for several weeks in the greatest secrecy for the next phase of her family's life, reveals the Daily Mail.
"Melania Trump is not sad to be leaving," a White House official told CNN. This Wednesday, the day of Joe Biden's inauguration as the 46th President of the United States, the Trump family will move to Mar-a-Lago, Florida after leaving Washington D.C.
Moving vans were spotted outside Eisenhower's executive office building last week as the first family and Trump administration staff prepared to vacate the premises. Packing boxes were also spotted outside the doors to the West Wing offices.
These were the first visible signs of an impending move. But it is rumored that President Trump's wife had already started the family move in great secrecy a few weeks ago. She was afraid of angering the president, who did not admit losing until last Thursday, after instigating an insurgency on the United States Capitol.
According to the Daily Mail, Melania Trump did not contact incoming first lady Jill Biden as tradition dictates. A first lady generally welcomes her successor over tea. But that did not happen.
The White House emptied of its staff
Melania, like President Trump, has seen her staff size shrink as the administration comes to an end. There are around five staff members left in the East Wing to complete the last week in office. Two resigned in protest against the President's handling of the riots: his Chief of Staff Stephanie Grisham and Social Secretary Anna Cristina "Rickie" Niceta.
It's unclear what awaits Melania Trump after her life in the White House. She reportedly looked for schools for her son Barron in Florida, but did not indicate that she plans to continue her "Be Best" campaign or work with the military once her husband leaves office. In general, First Ladies continue to hold charitable functions.
Melania Trump has not been seen in public since she and President Trump returned from Mar-a-Lago on December 31, where they had spent the family vacation, and where they ultimately decided not to participate in the New Year's gala, organized for their family.
According to several sources, Melania Trump learned that she would not attend the nomination of Joe Biden, like the rest of the world, upon discovering her husband's tweet. She will be on her way to retire in Florida at that time.
