Details you did not know about Lara and Eric Trump's marriage
Eric Trump is the youngest of three children shared by President Donald Trump and his ex-wife, Ivana Trump. Eric is preceded by his older brother, Donald Jr., and his sister, Ivanka Trump.
Eric married his wife, Lara Trump (born Yunaska) on November 8, 2014, at his father's Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago, nestled in Palm Beach, according to the Daily Mail. Since that day, they have welcomed two children: a son, Eric Luke, and a daughter, Carolina Dorothy.
While in many ways they look like a typical little family, they are also actively involved in Trump's presidential life. While Eric has long been involved in the Trump family business, Lara took a leading role in the family's political career in 2017, when the Associated Press announced that she was hired as a senior consultant for the Trump campaign. Before working with the Trumps, according to the Independiente, Lara worked as a personal trainer and television producer.
Lara has plunged headfirst into the political sphere and seems very comfortable there, working alongside her in-laws. According to the Daily Mail, she has been seen with Jared Kushner, Ivanka's husband, as efforts continue to support her father-in-law.
While she clearly gets along with the whole family, how is her marriage to Eric? We have all the details.
Lara Trump broke her wrists just before her wedding
Eric and Lara Trump met in a remarkably casual way. It was 2008 and Eric and Lara were in New York with friends. Hilariously, it was their height that helped draw them to each other.
Lara recalled the meeting for Fox & Friends in 2016: “We met here in New York. We were actually both out one night with friends and being probably the tallest two people in the room he was very helpful. I think we saw each other across the room. I was immediately intrigued, and I hope Eric felt the same way.
In the same interview, Lara explained why they dated for five years before getting engaged. "Eric wanted to be sure a lot," Lara explained. Eric jumped up and added, "Very safe." Eric proposed to Lara with a ring from his sister Ivanka Trump's fine jewelry collection, per New York Daily News.
They finally married in 2014 and chose Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida. Fun fact: that's the same place where Trump married Melania Trump in 2006, by City & Country.
However, there was a major mishap just before the wedding. Two weeks before the nuptials, Lara broke both wrists in a riding accident and had to get creative with hiding the bandages from her, according to New York Daily News.
As they continue to appear happily married, there is a key difference between Lara and Eric and it is shocking.
Lara and Eric Trump strongly disagree on animal rights
Lara Trump is an activist involved in animal rights, according to Politico, with a special interest in Beagles. Her activism can even turn political. As president of the Beagle Freedom Project, Kevin Chase said of Lara, “She really wants to be the first member of the first family to bring up an animal problem. Usually it is military things, veterans, children, eating healthy. She says, 'I want to finally be the voice of some animal stuff,' "Politico.
Lara has two Beagles that appear regularly on her Instagram feed and in one post, she called hers "first two children" of hers. According to The Washington Post, she is even trying to get a four-legged friend into the White House.
So why is Lara's love for animals a strange part of her marriage to Eric Trump?
Eric and his older brother Donald Trump Jr. happen to be keen hunters. Per The Washington Post, Trump's two oldest sons are "avid big game hunters who have killed animals on African safaris before."
It appears that Lara and Eric's different opinions on animal rights have yet to be aired. As City & Country puts it, "Lara has so far refrained from commenting on her husband's love on the hunt." But that has to be a bit awkward!
