Harry and Meghan return 8 million euros in wedding gifts
The royal couple returned gifts identified as promotional.
The British monarchy remains very strict on the issue of wedding gifts. Prince Harry and his new American wife did not accept some presents, spotted by Kensington Palace as advertising.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who united in Windsor on May 19, received an avalanche of gifts. This surge corresponds to their titles of nobility and to the fervor of the British people.
There are, however, very strict rules about what the Royal Family can and cannot accept. Each gift received during the exercise of the monarchy returns to the crown after the death of its recipient. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had invited the public to donate to their charity rather than gifts. However, some of these were considered by Kensington Palace as advertising which remains unauthorized. The value of these gifts returned to their senders is estimated at eight million euros.
Contacted, the Elysee denies having sent a gift, but sent a letter of congratulations to the Dukes of Sussex.
