What are the US First Lady’s beauty secrets?
Exercise
According to an extensive interview with Melania published by GQ in August last year, the First Lady wears ankle weights everyday.
This can be a good way to burn calories with minimal effort, experts claim.
The American Council on Exercise suggests people who wear light weights burn five to 15 per cent more calories, which explains Melania’s slim physique.
The First Lady is also said to be a fan of plates and tennis, according to ENews.
Diet
Melania Trump claims she does not diet, although those who have known the First Lady insist she eats very carefully.
Melania told Refinery29 in 2012 that she loves breakfast smoothies, and said: “It’s not a diet, I just like to eat healthy because I feel better and have more energy.”
However, she is partial to a little indulgence, adding: “I don’t have a particular snack I always eat. If I would snack, I would snack on maybe fruit or a little bit of chocolate, because I think your body needs that, too.”
Her former roommate, Matthew Atanian, a photographer, told GQ that when he lived with the First Lady, long before her marriage to Donald Trump, she ate seven pieces of fruit every.
Skincare
Matthew also told GQ that Melania carefully moisturised her skin everyday.
Melania herself described her diligent skin care routine in 2011, and said: "When I wake up in the morning, I like to refresh myself and put some tonic on—one with vitamin C—and then an oxygen cream with vitamins A, C, and E. That's very important to me so that my skin will stay moisturised throughout the day.”
She added: “I never go to sleep before washing my makeup off and I really nurture my skin at night."
Melania told Allure: “When I was a teenager I really took care of my skin. I didn't get too much sun exposure and I moisturised."
The First Lady also let slip to the magazine that she has a spa in her home, where she can have treatments such as manicures, pedicures and massages.
Make-up
Melania is a fan of make-up, and has been since she was a teenager, according to her former school friend, who revealed that she wore a full face of make-up including foundation, mascara, blusher and lipstick - even in summertime.
Melania still likes a full face of make-up, and favours a smokey eye.
Her make-up artist Nicole Bryl told the Telegraph: "I never get too heavy handed with her mouth, simply because it would just be intensely over powering with her smoky eye make-up.”
The First Lady often coordinates her lip to her outfit too. Nicole said: "I often pick lip colours based on what outfit Melania will be wearing for that day and if we do add a pop of colour, it's often at the very end with a dash of bright gloss to keep it soft and sensuous."
