Prince Harry arrives in London without Meghan Markle to attend his grandfather's funeral

Prince Harry has landed at Heathrow Airport in London to attend the state funeral for the death of his grandfather, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, which will be officiated next Saturday. Her wife, Meghan Markle, who would have stayed in Los Angeles due to her advanced pregnancy, is expecting her second child in late spring. This is the first visit of Elizabeth II's grandson to the United Kingdom since March 2020 and comes after the escalation of tension between Buckingham and the Sussexes following the broadcast of the Oprah Winfrey interview.

Lady Di's defected son will have to comply with the mandatory 5-10 day quarantine for travelers arriving in the UK, and it is believed that he will perform it in his small bachelor cabin, Nottingham Cottage, where according to the Daily Mail he was transferred directly from the airport. That little house is located on the outskirts of London's Kensington Palace, the official residence of his brother, Prince William, with whom in recent months he has not maintained a very fluid relationship.

Prince Harry will be quarantined very close to his brother William, on the grounds of Kensington Palace

His last residence in the UK, Frogmore Cottage, the home he shared with Meghan and their first child before his resignation is currently occupied by Princess Eugenie of York and Jack Brooksbank, who had their first child in February.

The mandatory quarantine of the prince could be reduced from 10 to 5 days if he provides a negative coronavirus test, but even if he decides not to take the test, he could go to his grandfather's funeral, because, according to the Test to Release rule, which sets the days of quarantine for travelers, these can break isolation "for reasons of compassion", among which is attending a farewell of a close family member.

The disagreements and quarrels in the British royal family have been a reality since Meghan and Harry decided to break their silence with Oprah Winfrey in the explosive interview that caused so much talk, but, according to British media, the family would have ordered a ceasefire to focus on honoring and mourning Prince Philip, who died at the Berkshire residence on Friday, two months before his 100th birthday.

This will also be the public reunion of the brothers, Princes Guillermo and Harry, after the many months of distance due to the resignation of the Sussexes, a cooling of their relationship that has in part conditioned the mobility crisis of the coronavirus.

Harry is unlikely to be able to wear a military uniform at his grandfather's funeral. He was stripped of his role as Captain General of the Royal Marines by resigning from being a working member of the British royal family. And last February he also lost two other honorary military positions in his final break with the Windsors prior to the premiere of the interview with Winfrey.

It is hoped that the prince will dress, like other ex-military men, in a suit and medals. And we will see what number in the order the protocol has saved for him after his resignation.
