Prince Harry Was Reportedly Spotted Having a Los Angeles Power Lunch
The royal flew back to California shortly after Prince Philip’s funeral for a meeting with one of the city’s biggest power players, philanthropist Wallis Annenberg.
After reuniting with his family for the first time in a year during Prince Philip’s funeral, Prince Harry quickly returned to Los Angeles and Meghan Markle, who was unable to attend due to her pregnancy. Within days of arriving back home, Harry was already reportedly having a lunch meeting with one of the city’s biggest power players.
On Wednesday, the same day as his grandmother Queen Elizabeth’s 95th birthday, the Duke of Sussex was spotted chatting over lunch with philanthropist Wallis Annenberg at the exclusive Hollywood club, San Vicente Bungalows. A source told Page Six that “They sat outside, far from other people, and Harry came in wearing a mask.” The private club has a strict policy against cellphones, photos, and media leaks, which are all punishable by permanent expulsion, but the insider confessed that the sighting was “just too juicy—I had to divulge.” This is all much to San Vicente Bungalow owner Jeff Klein’s annoyance, who the leaker added is now “crazed and trying to figure out how the privacy policy has been breached.”
Annenberg’s family has a history of working closely with the royals. Her father, Walter Annenberg, was the US ambassador to the UK under President Nixon from 1969 to 1974. Wallis currently runs her family’s multi-billion dollar non-profit, The Annenberg Foundation, and sits on the boards of the University of Southern California, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and LA’s Museum of Contemporary Art.
But it wasn’t a power lunch that sent Harry hurrying back to the States. A source previously told Vanity Fair that “Harry felt terrible leaving Meghan behind, it has been a very hard week and he wants to get back to her as soon as possible.” The Duchess of Sussex is currently very pregnant with her and Prince Harry’s second child—a baby girl due this summer—and so was advised by her doctors not to make the long journey back to the U.K for the funeral.
However, sources confirmed to Vanity Fair that Meghan did watch the service on TV from her home in Montecito, handwrote a heartfelt letter from herself and Harry that was placed alongside their wreath on the lawns outside St George’s Chapel, and personally called the Queen before the funeral to give her condolences.
