Why does the world hate Taylor Swift so much?
Taylor Swift is one of the most successful singers in the industry and one of the most influential on social causes; However, this is not enough to be loved
Taylor Swift just added another Grammy to her awards shelf for Album of the Year thanks to her work with Folklore, one of the two albums she wrote, produced and released during the pandemic.
With this recognition she made history, she became the first artist to dominate this category with three different genres: country, pop and alternative.
While she enjoys her hot streak, the singer hopes to receive recognition from her as an artist of the decade by Billboard, a category in which she competes with artists such as Adele, Bruno Mars, Drake and Rihanna.
There is no doubt that Swift is one of the most successful in recent times and one of the most famous, but also one of the most hated not only in Hollywood, but throughout the world, both by other celebrities and their respective fandoms.
For more than 12 years she has been one of the public figures that has come under the most public scrutiny, be it for her musical career, her image and her work with fashion, fights with other celebrities, even for the romantic relationships of her.
Why does the world hate Taylor Swift?
31-year-old Swift has a long list of detractions, some of them valid, some without foundation, and a few more that should take a backseat when she boasts of a brilliant and successful career.
While Taylor focuses on love lyrics (like many female and male celebrities), as well as fantastic stories, and even calls to stop bullying through her music, she is often criticized for obsessing over her past boyfriends to the point of being called 'man-eating', an opinion classified as sexist in these times.
But what popular songs or what career is she not based on these kinds of stories?
She has also been singled out for being and having false attitudes, be it on social media, with her entourages of friends, at award ceremonies and even with her political positions, in the face of racism, LGBTQ + rights and more.
The latter because for years she was unfortunately classified as a model girl for the white and supremacist movements of the United States, mainly for her physique under the typical American stereotype of white skin, blonde hair and blue eyes and for not defending minority movements or victims of hate.
After having worked hard and analyzed other roles that she can play as a superstar, she decided to stop keeping quiet and become an advocate for LGBTQ + rights, authors, cultural minorities and feminism. But she apparently is still not enough to avoid receiving hate.
In her documentary Miss Americana, she revealed that the low profile on these issues that she maintained for years was ordered by the executives of the company to which she belonged.
“Throughout my entire career, record company executives would just tell me, 'A good girl doesn't force people to have opinions; a pretty girl smiles, says hello and says thank you '. I became the person everyone wanted me to be. "
For fans and other celebrities it is not enough the movements that she promotes and how she does it, perhaps because she does it wrong or they consider her support quite exaggerated.
Victim or perpetrator?
Before her Reputation era, Taylor received hatred from fans of the Kardashian clan, when in 2016 Kanye West and Kim Kardashian called her a liar when she claimed for the insults that the rapper told her in his song Famous and how he portrayed her in his music video.
Although Kim showed evidence that Taylor had agreed with the lyrics of the song and pointed out that she only wanted attention, years later the truth came to light ... the now ex-partner manipulated the alleged evidence and with it it was shown that Swift was the victim for years.
“When people decided that I was wicker and evil and not a good person, that was the one I couldn't recover from because my whole life was focused on that,” she said.
“And then they decided in 2016 that absolutely everything in me was wrong. If I did something good, it was for the wrong reasons. If I did something brave, I didn't do it correctly. If I defended myself, I was throwing a tantrum. And so I found myself in this endless echo chamber mockery ”.
These are some of the lawsuits and discords that the Pennsylvania singer has had and that has led her to add the greatest hatred generated towards an artist, not to mention the misunderstanding she had with Katy Perry for her dancers, the harassment complaint sexual behavior that he presented against a radio presenter, the apparent problems of image and body weight or the betrayal that his old record company committed him by selling his songs to Scooter Braun without his authorization.
Does Taylor Swift deserve the hate she receives?
In the eyes of many people, perhaps the singer deserves the hatred she receives and even more; however, because of her work within the industry, as a philanthropist, activist, rights advocate, and her contribution to social causes, her personal criticism and hatred may be out of context.
Today Swift is known for having an influence on causes greater than that of many of her defectors, in addition to her talent not only as a singer, but as a writer, producer, director, creative, businesswoman and for being a role model of millions of fans and fans who are inspired by it.
So why the hate? It is a question that many defectors should ask themselves to find a valid answer based on the personality, jobs and personality of the singer and not just digging into the darkest part of her career.
Do you deserve the hate? That depends on who thinks so.
