Over the past 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works around the world to enable people to lead healthy, productive lives. We continue to believe in that mission and will continue to work together at the foundation, but we do not believe that we can grow together as a couple in the next phase of our lives. We ask for space and privacy for our family, as we begin to navigate this new life, ’said Bill and Melinda Gates in the letter.
Bill Gates and Melinda French (her maiden name) were married in 1994 at the Manele Bay Hotel in Hawaii, with a private ceremony. They had met seven years earlier, when the Duke University graduate IT specialist served as Product Manager at Microsoft. Together they conceived three children: Rory, Phoebe and Jennifer.
