Conspiracy theory arises that Melinda and Bill Gates divorce is due to her being a male clone

The divorce of Melinda and Bill Gates has given much to talk about and today the couple is linked to a conspiracy theory.

Bill Gates, the billionaire co-founder of Microsoft, and his wife Melinda, creators of a gigantic foundation that fights poverty and disease, announced on Monday, May 3, their divorce after 27 years of marriage.

"After much thought and work in our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage," they said in a joint statement posted on Twitter.

The couple, one of the wealthiest in the world - their fortune is estimated at about US $ 130 billion - announced that they will continue to work together in the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, created more than two decades ago to combat poverty, disease and inequality on the planet.

Melinda's clarification

The marriage between Melinda and Bill Gates, who plans to separate after 27 years together, is "irretrievably broken", according to the documents of Melinda's divorce petition that were revealed on Tuesday, May 4, by various US media.

"We ask the court to dissolve our marriage and for our marital union to end on the date indicated in our separation agreement," Melinda Gates's lawyers said in that document, according to US television NBC.

In that text, Melinda assured that "spousal maintenance is not necessary" and that the separation pact will determine the division of her properties.

Whether the divorce will in any way impact the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is unknown, though the organization's longtime CEO is Mark Suzman, while the two have served as trustees alongside Warren Buffet.

Created in 2000, the foundation has grown into one of the world's largest philanthropic organizations with funding of nearly $ 50 billion.

In 2020, Bill Gates resigned from his position as a director at Microsoft, the company he founded in 1975 with Paul Allen, to pursue charitable activities.

The conspiracy theory that affected the Gates couple

According to international reports, the couple has given their reasons why they decided to end their love affair. However, users from all over the world claim that they are not valid and began to create conspiracy theories.

One of the theories that has gone viral the most was published by the believers of QAnon, which affirms that the true reason for the divorce is because Melinda Gates was replaced by a male clone.

According to a publication in The Independent newspaper, a QAnon believer said: "The current version of Melinda is that Gates is a guy who changes his mind." However, on Twitter he replied: “Are we sure that Melinda Gates is not a man? Inquiring minds want to know! ”

“Is it bad enough to say it, but post it in a public forum? What's wrong with you? What about all these people who seem to take pride in being rude, rude and ugly to others just because they think it is cute? ”Quoted a user on that social network, in response to the questioning of the QAnon believer.

QAnon is a group known for spreading various wild theories and on issues related to the Gates family it is not the first, on previous occasions they spread that the businessman would supposedly include a tracking technology in vaccines against the coronavirus.

The conspiracy theory about the divorce of Melinda and Bill Gates recently released by QAnon is not the only one. Other versions suggest that Melinda would have had an affair with Anthony Fauci, doctor and main specialist in infectious diseases in the United States, and this assumption relates that Melinda will separate from Bill to be with "a real doctor."
