Gates spoke at the Global Forum on Economic Recovery, his first public appearance since the couple announced their divorce.
Bill Gates was seen still wearing his wedding ring during a virtual event Wednesday, just two weeks after he and his ex-wife Melinda French Gates announced their divorce from him.
According to the New York Post, Gates spoke at the United States Chamber of Commerce's Global Forum on Economic Recovery, his first public appearance since the couple announced their divorce.
His appearance also comes on the heels of explosive revelations that he allegedly had extramarital affairs with women who worked at both Microsoft and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
On Sunday, The Wall Street Journal revealed that Bill Gates' final departure from the Microsoft group in March 2020 would be linked to a relationship deemed "inappropriate" with an employee in the early 2000s.
The employee, an engineer, claimed in a letter that she had been romantically involved with Gates "for years," The Wall Street Journal reported.
According to the newspaper, some members of the board of directors also questioned the ties between Gates and financier Jeffrey Epstein, who committed suicide in jail in 2019 while awaiting a trial for alleged trafficking in minors.
The Times reported that, on at least a few occasions, Gates made advances to women who worked for him at Microsoft and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The newspaper cited people with direct knowledge of his behavior.
Another spokesperson, however, told the WSJ that Bill Gates had left Microsoft in order to dedicate himself "full time" to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Bill Gates and his wife Melinda, who co-founded their charity two decades ago to fight poverty and disease around the world, announced their divorce on May 3 after 27 years of marriage.
