Inspired by Harry and Archie, Meghan to publish her first children's book
The Duchess of Sussex adds another string to her bow by becoming the author of "The Bench", which chronicles the bond between father and son through the eyes of a mother. A family work to be discovered on June 8.
Harry and Meghan, free, their unofficial biography, made them a hit with bookstores last summer. But now it's solo that the Duchess of Sussex sets out to storm readers. The 39-year-old took advantage of her second maternity leave to write her very first children's book, of which she will also narrate the audio version.
A book called The Bench - Le Banc en VF - which is directly inspired by his family life. “It all started with a poem I wrote to my husband for Father's Day, the month after Archie was born. This poem has become a story,” she explains in a statement from her home in Random House edition.
"The Bench" is timeless. It seems destined to become one of those books that people will read for generations to come. "
This is the second foray into the world of publishing for the Duchess who had already prefaced a cookbook from which part of the profits were donated to the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire in London. Meghan teamed up with cartoonist Christian Robinson to bring her story to life. She says of her illustrations that they "capture the warmth, joy and comfort of the relationship between fathers and their sons from all walks of life."
"This portrayal is especially important to me. Christian and I have worked closely together to paint this special bond through a gaze that includes everyone. My hope is that The Bench resonates with every family as much as it resonates with mine. ", she insists.

The Duchess's editor is full of praise for the work of the young woman, whose "tender emotion" she praises. "The Bench is timeless. It seems destined to become one of those books that people will read for generations to come," she said in the same statement.
Compliments almost unnecessary when you know that everything Harry and Meghan produce easily attracts curiosity. And provided an unparalleled global media relay, like their interview-confession granted to Oprah Winfrey. Already promised a future of bestseller upon its release on June 8, this book will be a first indicator of the direction that the new Hollywood life of the couple is taking away from the British royal family.
After a year of steps and contacts, the Sussexes signed juicy contracts with Netflix and Spotify. Without anything having yet concretely emerged. The couple have released just one podcast in six months. Their first Netflix production, the documentary series Heart of Invictus, on the Invictus Games, will not see the light of day before 2022. Enough to give Meghan and Harry a little time to work harder between two fundraisers and the arrival of their baby girl, scheduled for early summer.
