Kate Middleton and Prince William launch their YouTube channel
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge launched their own YouTube channel on May 5, breaking away from the official one of the royal family. In a first introductory video, their cool tone and knowing laughter seem to reveal their intention to produce less institutional content.
"Be careful what you say, because they are filming this." With his finger pointing towards the camera, Prince William laughs heartily with his wife Kate Middleton. It is with this relaxed tone that the twenty-five second video begins which announces the launch of their Youtube channel, soberly named The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
A modern trailer
This teaser posted on Wednesday May 5, 2021 is modern: its editing is dynamic, and the music in the background, catchy. Dozens of video clips of their royal engagements, their tours abroad, but also of their family life, with their children Charlotte, Louis and George, or of Queen Elizabeth II, parade on the screen, as to announce the DNA of this new chain, between protocol moments, and others, more intimate.
The beginning of a new era ?
The couple who celebrated this April 29 their ten years of marriage, shared so far video content on the official Youtube channel "The Royal Family", followed by nearly 850,000 subscribers.
With this new channel, of course already certified by the platform, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge seem to want to make their communication less institutional, more personalized.
Their pair account created on May 5, counts, on the morning of 6, more than 200,000 registered, and their introductory video, already 1 million spectators.
Kate Middleton and Prince William also changed the name of their Instagram account (ex @KensigntonRoyal, now @DukeAndDuchessOfCambridge), followed by 12.8 million followers and their Twitter account, followed by 2.2 million tweetos, and on which they shared the launch of this YouTube channel, in the same cool and humorous tone used in their first video: "Better late than never!".
