Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to attend concert to raise money for vaccination
Faced with inequalities in access to vaccines against Covid-19, the Duke and Duchess of Susse will co-chair the charity concert, "Vax Live". The goal ? Raise funds to help economically disadvantaged countries get vaccinated, and thus celebrate the hope of a return to normalcy.
To try to put an end to the health crisis due to Covid-19, the vaccine is a lever of hope. But access to these vaccines widens the inequalities between countries. This is why the Vax Live charity concert, which will be co-chaired by Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markleva be organized. At the origin of this event, nicknamed "the concert to bring the world together", it is the singer Selena Gomez, reveals HelloMagazine.
The goal ? Raise enough funds to finance the purchase of vaccines, for countries that cannot afford them.
This concert will be recorded on May 2 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, then broadcast on Saturday May 8, 2021 on ABC, ABC News Live, CBS, YouTube, but also on iHeartMedia radio stations and the iHeartRadio app.
Equal access to vaccines around the world
This large-scale event is also organized to call on governments and private sector actors to make new commitments in favor of the equitable distribution of Covid-19 vaccines around the world.
"We call on world leaders to commit to making vaccines accessible to all in order to end the pandemic for all, everywhere," read the official Global Citizen website, quoted by HelloMagazine. The main mission of this concert is to celebrate "the hope that COVID-19 vaccines offer to families and communities around the world."
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex already committed to this cause
At the concert, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to deliver a speech on the importance and need to make vaccines accessible to all.
“Over the past year our world has known pain and loss and struggle - together. Now we must recover and heal - together. We cannot leave anyone behind. [...] We will all win. , we will all be safer, when everyone, everywhere, has equal access to the vaccine. We must pursue equitable distribution of the vaccine and in doing so restore faith in our common humanity. This mission could not be more. critical or more important ", they declared in a statement taken up by the American magazine.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are already engaged in this fight. In particular, they led a campaign in the sector to raise funds for COVAX, a vaccine sharing program.
