Serena Williams, her beautiful friendship with Meghan Markle
In an interview with Australia's "The Project", Serena Williams opened up about Meghan Markle, with whom she has been friends for more than eight years.
One rose to fame with her flawless backhand, the other charmed the world by marrying a prince. Friends for several years, Serena Williams and Meghan Markle know that today, even if an ocean separates them, they can always count on each other. In an interview for Australia's "The Project" broadcast on Sunday, September 23, the tennis player returned to the strong bond between her and the Duchess of Sussex. “In fact, we sent each other messages as recently as this morning,” explains the sportswoman. "We've known each other for a long time, but we've really relied on each other a lot lately." According to the American version of "Glamor" magazine, Serena Williams made the confidences just days after her controversial loss in the U.S. Open final.
Longtime friends
Since meeting at the Super Bowl in 2010, Serena Williams and Meghan Markle have become inseparable and have always been there for each other. The tennis player had also come, accompanied by her husband Alexis Ohanian, to her friend's wedding with Prince Harry on May 19 at Windsor Castle. "I felt like I was witnessing a historic moment," recalls the sportswoman. "The whole ceremony was wonderful, and most of all I wanted to see my friend happy and I think she was." To return the favor, Meghan Markle had settled in the stands at Wimbledon to support her during her final in July.
