The shocking transformation of Michael Jackson: a life full of surgeries and treatments
Today, the King of Pop would turn 60. A journey through the image of him, as the musical stages of him passed.
It is a special day for Michael Jackson fans. The beloved interpreter would be turning 60 years old and everyone remembered him on social networks. Regarded as the King of Pop, he savored the success of his songs and the millions he earned working on what he loved the most.
The artist began his career at age 11, as the main vocalist of the Jackson 5, the funk, pop and soul music group that revolutionized the 1960s. At that time, he wore his Afro-descendant look: curly hair, wide nose and dark complexion.
Years passed and the fury of his music grew. Despite how well he was doing, he was not completely happy. There was something that bothered him a lot and it was the image of him.
In 1978 he suffered a fall on stage and had to undergo surgery. Nothing would be the same anymore. Since then he began to wear a thinner and more pointed nose.
But it would not be his only passage through an operating room. Michael wanted to completely transform himself and appealed to surgeons to achieve his goal. He had a chin prosthesis, rhinoplasty and even scalp grafts. However, the most striking thing was the change in skin color.
In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, the King of Pop confessed that he underwent treatments to whiten his skin because he suffered from vitiligo, a disease caused by lack of pigmentation. After several years, a friend sent him to the front: "He told me that he had to undergo surgery since he could not bear to see the face of his father every time he looked at himself in the mirror."
Little by little, he became unrecognizable, although his voice was still the sweetest in the world.
The idol died on June 25, 2009 from acute demerol and benzodiazepine poisoning at his home in California.
