There are many reasons to dislike Melania Trump, but her modeling isn't one of them

By now we are all familiar with Melania Trump's little plagiarism problem at the Republican National Convention. She and her speechwriters unabashedly lifted lines from Michelle Obama's address at the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

But instead of criticizing the moral implications of literally stealing another woman's words, the tide on social media has already turned to criticizing the "first lady" of the Republican Party for her former modeling career.

Perez Hilton, a supreme douchelord, tweeted a naked picture of Trump from her earliest modeling days. Others used her infamous GQ photo shoot aboard her future husband's private jet as a means to question whether she's fit for the role of president's wife.

If there is ANYONE who thinks that Melania Trump, a former porn queen, has class like Michelle Obama or Jackie O, get your head examined.

Let me be unequivocally clear: A woman's decision to bare her body (or to not) is not a reflection of her moral makeup.

If you want to dislike Melania Trump for something (which, knowing who she's married to, I get it) or make it clear that she isn't fit to be the mom of America, don't make it her boobs or her ass or any other body part she may have exposed as a product of her profession.

Make it her inability to stand up to her husband when he threatens to end immigration or makes racist comments about any group of American people that isn't white. Herself an immigrant from Slovenia, you would think Melania would have something to say about her husband's deep-seated dislike of those born outside the U.S. But no.

She stays quiet as he expresses his willingness to "build a wall" on the Mexican border or stop allowing Muslim immigrants to enter the country. Supporting a man who spews toxicity toward a group of citizens with which she identifies? Definitely a bigger risk to the integrity of the role of first lady than possessing a pair of breasts.

Better yet, see her as unfit because she married Trump—known for his misogynistic comments about his previous partners and the female gender as a whole—in the first place. Her marriage may have been a savvy business move, yes. But not so savvy so as to absolve her from pledging her mind, body and soul to a man who has said that "what the media write [doesn't matter] as long as you've got a young, and beautiful, piece of ass."

Not speaking up when your husband uses you as a means to justify his vile public remarks? Definitely a reason to think she wouldn't be able to check "The Donald" were he to take the highest office in the land. Definitely not a role model young women should look up to as they begin forming their own romantic relationships.

So use those as your reasons to not want her as your first lady rather than her business decision to flaunt what she's got.
